MALVERN » As The Malvern School recognizes its 20th anniversary, it has been celebrating by engaging school communities and rallying support for Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation.

The Malvern School announced it surpassed its 2018 fundraising goal of $120,000 in recognition of this milestone and raised $146,822 to help fight childhood cancer. This donation was presented to Liz Scott, Alex’s mother and co-executive director of ALSF.

“With this donation, The Malvern School will have raised nearly $800,000 for ALSF since we began partnering more than 10 years ago,” said Kristen Waterfield, president and co-founder of The

Malvern School. “This is an accomplishment we are deeply proud of. It represents the passion of our entire team for helping others, and core to our work as educators, helping young children understand and embrace the importance of giving back.”

Curriculum at The Malvern School includes a dedicated focus on character

building and value demonstrations to encourage students to be active and charitable members of the community starting at a young age. Over the past several months, students at the schools learned the importance of helping others by planning and executing fundraising events at their schools. They are taught compassion and empathy while helping others in need.

“We don’t just talk to our students about these character values; we lead

by example to bring lessons to life,” Waterfield added.

From April through July, teachers and directors at all 26 Malvern School locations throughout southeastern Pennsylvania and southern and central New Jersey engaged children, families and their communities in fun activities and events to help the team surpass its goal.

One hundred percent of the proceeds from these efforts, from lemonade

stands and carnivals to art auctions, fundraising partnerships with local businesses and other school activities, are donated to ALSF.

The Malvern School has been a strong supporter of ALSF for more than 10 years and each year has been named a Top Fundraiser by the organization.
