Richard H. Mitchell, formerly of Wagontown
Richard H. Mitchell, age 88, formerly of Wagontown, passed away at Harrison Senior Living on Wednesday, September 26, 2018. He was the husband of June M. Wilson Cooper Mitchell for almost 48 years. Born in Grand Rapids, MI, he was the son of the late Dr. Harold C. and Katherine I. Stewart Mitchell. Richard served his country during the Korean Conflict in the Navy. After his time in the service he attended Tri-State College now Trine University in Indiana majoring in Mechanical Engineering. After college he worked for Westinghouse in Lester and Concordville, PA then for United Engineers & Construction in Philadelphia. He enjoyed living life and being busy. In addition to his wife, he is survived by 2 children: Richard R. husband of Theresa Mignogna Mitchell of Narvon, Deborah K. wife of Hisham Sarhan of NJ, 3 step-children: Sandra L. Cooper of Coatesville, Gregory D. husband of Renee Morris Cooper of Coatesville, Mark E. husband of Audrey Reeser Cooper of Wagontown, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 3 siblings: twin brother Robert Mitchell, Patricia Mitchell and Margaret “Peggy” Gingrich. There will be a funeral service at the Shivery Funeral Home, 111 Elizabeth Street, Christiana, on Saturday, September 29th at 11:00 a.m. with a viewing time from 10 a.m. until time of service. Pastor Tim Crans will be officiating. Interment will be in the Atglen Methodist Cemetery.
