Florence M. Raimato (nee Spence) of Kennett Square

Florence “Flo, Flossie” Raimato, of Kennett Square, PA passed away on September 30, 2018 surrounded by her loved ones. She was the widow of Mario M. Raimato with whom she shared 53 years of marriage.

Born June 17, 1934 in Childs, MD, she was the daughter of the late James H. and Ethel Cameron Spence. Florence graduated from Elkton High School, where she pitched for the softball team.

She was a homemaker and after raising her children, worked at ACA Mushrooms where she formed lifelong friendship­s. Her love of children prompted her to open a home daycare where over the course of 10 years, she cared for a dozen children including her own grandchild­ren. Through the years, she loved spending summers in Charlestow­n, MD where she grew up and met her future husband. More recently, they spent summers with their family at their home near Bethany beach. She loved word puzzles, game shows and Patsy Cline music.

She was a member of St. Patrick Church.

Florence is survived by her daughter Lynn M. Commodari (Jim Hamilton) of Newark, DE and son, Mario Michael Raimato, Jr. (Michelle) of Kennett Square, PA, grandchild­ren, Christophe­r, Lauren and Chelsea Commodari, Rebecca, Francis and Samuel Raimato, and great grandson, Weston Raimato. She is also survived by her sister Betty Ann Deibert (Frank) and sisters in law, Audrey Spence, Paula Spence and Marie McMillan. She was preceded in death by siblings James Spence, William Spence, Richard Spence, Alwilda Malin, Dorothy Jackson, Margorie Bacora, Jean Mahoney and Marie Spence. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.

A special thanks to nephew Jimmy Raimato for his endless help with Doctor’s appointmen­ts and errands, daughter in law Michelle Raimato and grandchild­ren Lauren and Christophe­r Commodari, Willow Tree Hospice’s Victoria Fanning, Michelle Jorgensen, Lisa D’Ascenzo and caregivers Amy Reed, Tina Evans and Doris Jackson for their compassion­ate care and kindness during her final months of life.

Her Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday 10:30am, October 6, 2018 at the St. Patrick Church, 212 Meredith Street, Kennett Square, PA with interment to follow at St. Patrick Cemetery.
