21-year-old woman struck by vehicle in West Chester
WEST CHESTER >> A 21-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle at University Avenue and South High Street in West Chester shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, police said. The woman was transported to the hospital, and her condition is not known.

STATE POLICE, AVONDALE Resisting arrest
John S. Carnes, a former city of Coatesville solicitor and a Chester County defense attorney, was arrested Oct. 7 at 1:48 a.m. following an altercation at his home involving a Protection from Abuse order. Carnes had a PFA against his estranged wife, Medgine M. Carnes, in a marriage of three years. Police arrived at 259 Daleview Road in Londonderry Township and tried to calm a situation between the two. Medgine Carnes was asked to leave and did so. But Carnes became combative with police after she left and approached a police officer, and started screaming and yelling. A police officer drew a taser. Carnes complied, and was arrested on charges of obstructing law enforcement officers, disorderly conduct and resisting arrest
COATESVILLE Assault
On Oct. 7, at 6:48 a.m., Coatesville Police responded to the 100 block of Marquis Drive for an assault. Maurice Braswell, 47, was taken into custody for simple assault and related.
Theft from vehicles
On Oct. 7,at 9:09 a.m., Coatesville Police responded to the 100 block of Mayfield Drive. Several residents discovered items had been removed from their vehicles. An unknown actor had been in the area and checking for unlocked cars. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Coatesville Police at 610-384-2300.
Attempted burglary
On Oct.7, at 2:02 p.m. Coatesville Police responded to the unit block of South Church Street. Damage to a window to the rear of a convenience store had been damaged sometime overnight. Police said an unknown male actor on a bicycle had attempted to gain entry into the store, but was unsuccessful.
CALN Theft of groceries
Police said a woman stole $198 worth of groceries at the Giant supermarket on Oct. 1 around 1:10 p.m. The woman rolled a cart full of groceries out of the Giant without paying for them. Anyone with any information is asked to call Chester County Police Dispatch at 610-383-7000.
PHOENIXVILLE Kayakers rescued
Two kayakers were rescued Saturday, Oct. 6 after they became stranded on the Schuylkill River near Phoenixville around 1:45 p.m. The kayakers were standing on a high spot and were not in distress. Two rescue boats assisted in their rescue. They were not injured
KENNETT TOWNSHIP Identity fraud
Kennett Township Police Department is investigating a theft of a credit card that was stolen out of a vehicle in the unit block of Nine Gates Road located in Chadds Ford. The card was used at multiple locations in the Wilmington area. PARKESBURG DUI
Kevin Martin Welsh, Kristian Axelsson, Cristian Manuel Padilla and Stephanie Ann Matusky were charged with DUI following traffic stops, police said.
SOUTHERN CHESTER COUNTY REGIONAL DUI
Christobal Perez-Ramirez, 27, of Toughkenamon was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses, after the 2005 Ford he was driving was stopped for failing to stay in its lane of travel. The incident occurred on Sept. 15 at 12:30 am, in the 300 block of Bucktoe Road, in New Garden Township. Upon making contact with Perez-Ramirez, police observed indicators suggesting intoxication and field sobriety tests confirmed impairment. A records check revealed that he was an unlicensed driver. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a B.A.C. of .104 percent.
