Bette Lu Forsythe, 92 passed away Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Oak Leaf Manor North Retirement and Assisted Living Facility with her loving family at her side. She was born November 6, 1925 in Lancaster, PA. She is pre-deceased by her parents Chauncey W and M. Louise (Smith) Longenecke­r, her brother, Jack Longenecke­r and her husband, Alan K. Forsythe.

A graduate of Lancaster schools she went on to receive a B.S. in Pharmacolo­gy from Temple University. This allowed her to help manage the operation of the family business, Longenecke­r Drug Store for 60 years. She was the second female pharmacist in Lancaster. In addition to her career, she was a dedicated wife and mother as well as a skilled artist with a specialty in sculpting, silk work, pottery, and oil painting. She was also awarded an Internatio­nal Life Master in duplicate Bridge

Bette Lu and her late husband, Alan Forsythe raised six children – Tempie of Lancaster, PA, Doug (Joanne) of Dunedin, FL, Chauncey (Mary) of Manteo, NC, Clinton (Heather) of Bernfield, PA, Ted (Joyce) of Berwyn, PA, Neil (Tami) of Loveland, CO. In addition to her daughter and sons she is survived by 12 grandchild­ren and 6 great grandchild­ren, her brother James (Veronica) Longenecke­r of Lancaster, PA, her brotherin-laws Glenn Forsythe of Hendersonv­ille, NC and Bud Forsythe of Gardner, KS

Services will be held on Friday, October 19, 2018 in the chapel at the Church of the Good Samaritan,

212 W. Lancaster Ave., Paoli, PA 19301. The service will conducted Friday, Oct. 19 by The Rev Dr Todd Cederberg of Stuart, FL Public viewing will be from 1pm to 2pm followed by a service in the chapel and burial in the church cemetery.
