Lucy Noland opens Tasty Talks’ second season
$2,400 raised for Non-lethal Options for Animals
RADNOR >> Fox 29 News anchor Lucy Noland opened the second season of Tasty Talks at Yangming ballroom Sept. 26 with a full house of guests.
Among the 120 guests were former Gov. Ed Rendell, Steve Morrison of WMMR’s “Preston and Steve Show” and Philly Current Magazine Publisher Eddie Keels. Also present were Bill Anderson and Thomas Drayton of Fox 29, Kristin Hermann of Ben FM, Nichole Michalik of iHeart Media and Mina “Say What” Llona of Sirius XM.
Noland is an outspoken animal rights advocate. She described a wide array of activities, both in local communities and the state house, to rescue and care for homeless cats and dogs, close down puppy mills and prevent cruelty to animals.
Many of the region’s animal advocates attended this event, several of whom joined Noland at the microphone to share their efforts. The directors of the PA and NJ Humane Societies and the Brandy Valley SPCA all described fielding calls from Lucy at all hours to help dogs and cats in need. Villanova Professor Stephanie Sena, founder of the Student Emergency Housing Unit of Philadelphia (SREHUP), also expressed her gratitude for Noland’s support.
Rendell also took to the stage to talk about his “adventures” with Noland to help and protect animals, then served as auctioneer for a private lunch with both himself and Noland, with all proceeds going to Non-lethal Options for Animals. The winning bid was $1,500, bringing the total raised fund for Nolan’s selected charity to more than $2,400.
The founder of the Tasty Talk concept, local Realtor Michelle Leonard, said she is “genuinely impressed with the benevolence of Lucy Noland.”
Yangming owner Michael Wei expressed his thanks to all Tasty Talk guests and to Maria Delaney, owner of Louella Boutique, for her charitable contributions, and Kim Wright, owner of Nothing Bundt Cakes, for bringing her cakes for every guest.
The next Tasty Talk will be Wednesday, Oct. 24, featuring the social media director for iHeart Radio Philly, Nichole Michalik.
