William Armstrong

William “Bill” Armstrong died peacefully at home on October 8, 2018 in Lewisburg, PA at the age of 93.

Bill is survived by his daughter, Mary Gibson of Lewisburg, PA, brother James Armstrong and his wife Jean of West Chester, PA, sister Marie Brown of Doylestown, PA; grandchildren, Rachael Shoeman and husband Rodney of Lewisburg, PA, William Gibson of McAlisterville, PA, Samantha Gibson of Lewisburg, PA, Russell Armstrong of Coatesville, PA, Tyler Gibson of Bloomsburg, PA and Charles Armstrong of Coatesville, PA. Bill also is survived by 6 great-grandchildren and many cousins and nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by Theresa Armstrong, wife, of West Chester, PA, William Armstrong, son, of Coatesville, PA and greatgrandson Hudson Gibson of McAlisterville, PA.

Bill was born on August 17, 1925 in Philadelphia, PA to William Armstrong and Mary Campbell Heideck. Bill served as a Merchant Marine and in the Army Airforce.

Bill was an accomplished Tool and Die maker, gas turbine engineer for Westinghouse, and assisted in building the Apollo. Bill loved to travel and lived life to the fullest.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday October 20, 2018 from 9:30-10:30am at SS. Peter & Paul Church, 1325 E. Boot Rd. West Chester, PA 19380; followed by his Funeral Mass at 10:30am. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bill’s life.

Interment will be held at St. Agnes Cemetery, West Chester.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St. Attn; Memorials, Philadelphia, PA 19103 in honor of Bill.
