Art Gala coming to Unionville High School
EAST MARLBOROUGH >> Unionville High School Art Gala is celebrating its 43rd year. This annual art show and sale showcases local working artists, UHS alumni, and current Unionville High School (UHS) student artists. In addition to beautiful artwork, there is live music to entertain and great food to enjoy.
The Unionville High School Art Gala strives to include a variety of artists - both new and more established individuals. Approximately 65 participating artists express
their talents though diverse mediums including oil, acrylic and watercolor paintings. The show also includes photography, glass, metal, pastels, mixed media, jewelry, ceramics, mosaics and wood.
This year’s featured Artist is Frank DePietro. Inspired by close observations of the natural world and encounters with still moments that give us pause, DePietro’s work is infused with a quiet meditative quality, inspiring a closer connection with nature. DePietro’s paintings reflect directly what he has seen and though realism and the
lines, shapes, and colors encountered in nature, he reveals the cycles of decay and regeneration that are life’s constant state of change.
DePietro exhibits his paintings both locally and nationally and his work is held in many private and public collections including the permanent collection of the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
The Art Gala will also feature two senior student artists. Names will be announced soon. The Student Art section of the Art Gala highlights the impressive artistic talents nurtured by Unionville
High School and its outstanding Art Department.
A Silent Auction is offered to the public which features beautiful artwork donated by the talented artists in the show as well as select regional activities and outings. This auction runs both Friday and Saturday and closes one hour before show end.
The 2018 UHS Art Gala will be held on Friday, Nov. 16 from 6-9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 17 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Unionville High School Art Center, Auditorium
Entrance, 750 Unionville Road. Friday evening includes delicious appetizers provided by some of the area’s most popular restaurants and live music from local musicians. This
fun and lively event raises money for Educational Enrichment Projects which help enhance the overall educational experience for UHS students as well help fund community outreach efforts in the local area. Admission to the event is free. Free parking is available. Thirty percent of purchases are tax deductible.
