Lawrence A. Waltman of West Grove

Lawrence A. Waltman, 100, of West Grove, passed away Monday, October 29, 2018 at home.

He was the husband of the late Hazel Flannery Waltman.

Born in West Grove, he was the son of the late G. Roy and Laura Quimby Waltman.

Lawrence, with his family and father, helped to build and operate Sunset Park, Jennersvil­le for 56 years. He also owned and operated a dairy farm in Jennersvil­le.

Lawrence was a Charter Member and first President of Oxford Hunt Club, Charter Member and President of Home and Farm Home Antique Assoc., Charter Member of John Deere Waterloo Boys, President of Avon Grove Alumni Assoc., President of Chester County Dairymen Coop, member of Country Music Assoc. and Country and Bluegrass Music Assoc., and was a member of the Oxford Lodge #353 F. & A. M. for over 50 years. He served as Penn Township School Director, Avon-Grove School Board and President, Board of Governors of West Grove Community Hospital and Chairman of Penn Township Planning Commission.

In 1988, Lawrence received the Lions Annual Service Award.

He is survived by one daughter, Anita Hoopes Carr of West Grove; two sons, Larry Waltman (Phyllis) of West Grove and Donald Waltman (Donna) of Quarryvill­e; eight grandchild­ren, Brenda Durnan (Steve), Connie Race (Bill), Craig Waltman (Wendy), Trisha Costello (Ray), Courtney Wooters (Chris) Taryn Waltman, Casey Waltman and Jennifer Waltman; and five great-grandchild­ren, Adeline Wooters, Noah Waltman, Will Wooters, Elena Costello and Rocco Costello.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Smedley Waltman, Willard Waltman and H. Brinton Waltman.

A masonic service will be held 11 am Friday, November 9, 2018 at the Oxford Masonic Lodge, 245 N 3rd St, Oxford. Friends and family may visit from 10–11 am on Friday at the Oxford Masonic Lodge and Thursday from 6-9 pm at the Edward L. Collins, Jr. Funeral Home, Inc. 86 Pine St., Oxford.

Interment will be private.
