Improv coming to Uptown!
The Better Than Bacon Improv Comedy Show will benefit ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester.
How about introducing a little bit more spontaneity in your life?
Enjoy an evening of improv comedy for a great cause on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Tickets sell out fast for the Better Than Bacon Improv Comedy Show benefitting ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester. This year’s show will be November 24, at 7:30 p.m. at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center in West Chester, with a special opening act from “Hot Breakfast,” Delaware’s comedy musical duo.
Voted “Best of the Main Line & Western Suburbs” by Main Line Today, Better Than Bacon Improv Comedy performs in completely unscripted improvisation that is driven by the audience’s suggestions and interactions. Every word and action is created on the spot, and every show is a brand new experience!
“Eight years ago, we started out as a bunch of adults who met at improv comedy classes and decided to take a gamble by creating our own improv comedy troupe,” says Better than Bacon’s Bob Curran. “We appreciate the role that our West Chester community has played in supporting our craft, so it’s a pleasure to give back with this performance benefitting ACT in Faith.”
A portion of all proceeds from the performance will benefit ACT in Faith of Greater West Chester, an interfaith organization that seeks to empower un- and under-employed West Chester residents to stabilize their households and build toward sustainability. Services include eviction and utility shut-off prevention, employment support services and a Community
Cupboard, which provides personal care and household items as well as dry food goods and homemade frozen meals.
“If you’re looking for something to do on the weekend after Thanksgiving, this is certainly it,” says ACT in Faith President Denise Antonelli. “You never know what will happen next at a Better Than Bacon show, and of course the Uptown! is a beautiful place to sit back and watch it all unfold.”
