-

Bernadette A. Fidanza, 73, passed away peacefully in her Exton home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.

She is survived by her husband, Nicholas J. Fidanza and her daughter, the Rev. Christina M. Fidanza. The youngest of seven children, her surviving siblings are Rita, Joe, and Dee. Bernadette was the first of her family to graduate high school (Haverford, 1963) and college (West Chester, 1967). Later in life, she earned her Special Education Certificate from Immaculata University, and taught at both the Vanguard School and Collegium Charter School.

Bernadette met her beloved husband of 51 years playing basketball on the playground in Ardmore. They were sole proprietors of a successful corner store, Bernie’s Corner, in East Fallowfield Township, for over 10 years. Bernadette was well known in the Coatesville Area School District as a frequent substitute teacher.

Never one to hold back her words, Bernadette described herself saying, “I have been known to change oars in the middle of the stream, love conversation and playing Devil’s Advocate. I speak my mind but try not to offend people by letting them know this is my nature. I like doing my own thing, and would rather make a decision than keep weighing the pros and cons. I love learning new information and experiencing new activities. I am Italian and very proud of my heritage.”

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass on Friday, November 16th at 10:30 AM at Ss. Phillip & James Church, 107 N Ship Rd, Exton, PA 19341. Visitation prior to mass starting at 9:30 AM. Interment is private. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to your favorite charity.
