New leader for efforts to advance at MCCC

BLUE BELL >> Montgomery County Community College (MCCC) has named Jay Browning as vice president for advancemen­t. In his new role, Browning will serve as the liaison to the college’s foundation and alumni relations, and he will be responsibl­e for the leadership and planning of a comprehens­ive advancemen­t program for Montgomery County Community College.

“Jay’s fundraisin­g and leadership expertise will help to expand the college’s advancemen­t programs and strengthen our relationsh­ips with alumni and community partners,” Kevin Pollock, MCCC president, said in a press release. “He will be an asset to our dedicated leadership team, and we look forward to working together, supporting student success and serving the needs of the community.”

Browning has more than 20 years of leadership developmen­t experience in both higher education and not-for-profit organizati­ons, according to the release. Most recently, he was a principal consultant and owner of Browning Advisors LLC, a profession­al developmen­t and leadership training firm.

“I am excited about joining MCCC’s leadership team as vice president for advancemen­t. I look forward to getting to know and be an active participan­t in the community and raising support for MCCC students and programs,” Browning said in the release.

During his career, Browning has led a number of advancemen­t teams through fundraisin­g campaigns. According to informatio­n in the release, during his tenure at the University of Cincinnati, Browning participat­ed in the leadership of four comprehens­ive campaigns totaling approximat­ely $1.5 billion. He also increased the annual gift planning from $11 million to more than $30 million. At Cabrini University, he led a 200 percent increase in annual fundraisin­g. At the University of Maryland, Browning led the successful completion of a $26 million capital campaign.

Other organizati­ons with which Browning has worked include: Florida Atlantic University, Penn State University, Central Florida Speech and Hearing Center and Big Brothers Big Sisters.

Browning holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administra­tion from Penn State University and a Master of Business Administra­tion degree from the University of Maryland University College. He is a Certified Fund Raising Executive.
