Join the holiday celebration Dec. 8
The Christmas holiday is coming fast, and Santa is on his way to Downingtown to help us celebrate!
The Christmas holiday is coming fast, and Santa is on his way to Downingtown to help us celebrate!
Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas Inc. and the Downingtown-Thorndale Regional Chamber of Commerce have partnered to bring a wonderful Christmas celebration to Downingtown on Saturday, Dec. 8.
We’ve already had our Christmas tree lighting, which was held on Nov. 24. Our new artificial Christmas tree — which has grown since last year — sits next to the Log House to be enjoyed by everyone for the entire holiday season. Stop by and check it out!
On Saturday, Dec. 8, Downingtown will come alive with the sights and sounds of Christmas!
There will be music along our parade route starting between 2 and 2:30 p.m. Several of our downtown businesses will be open to help us celebrate. Be sure to come to town early and get into the holiday spirit while waiting for the Christmas parade that will kick off at 3 p.m. in the west end of town and travel east along Business Route 30. Bring your family and friends, and enjoy the day.
We also have a Storefront Decorating Contest this year, so check out the many stores that are decorated both along Lancaster Avenue and the side streets.
As usual, there will be plenty of bands, floats, walking and dancing groups and fire trucks, too! And, of course, Santa and Mrs. Claus will bring up the end of the parade.
Come join us and celebrate the Christmas holidays in the Borough of Downingtown on Dec. 8!

PARADE ROUTE
The Downingtown Good Neighbor Christmas Parade is held on Business Route 30/Lancaster Avenue. It starts in the west end of town at Gable Avenue and continues east to Route 113/ Whiteland Avenue. It takes time to get all the entries out of the staging area, so give it a few blocks to get started. By the time it reaches the train station, it should be rolling right along.
STAGING AREA
Our staging area for the parade is Beaver Creek Elementary School, Grace Church and the streets surrounding it. Traffic around the staging area gets very congested especially on Lloyd Avenue, so unless you are part of the parade, try to avoid the area.
