Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority marks November to Remember
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Phi Beta Omega Chapter, along with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®, Theta Iota Chapter from West Chester University recently served more than 125 hot meals at the Cecil and Grace Soup Kitchen housed in St. John’s Episcopal Church, 521 Church Street in Norristown for their annual program, November to Remember. The food was prepared by chapter member Mattie Wilkinson and the coordinator of the event was chapter member Cassandre Luberus.
The chapter also distributed over 150 hats, scarves, gloves, rain ponchos, and blankets to help the homeless navigate the cold weather. In addition, nutritional snacks were given out in to-go bags along with water bottles. A fun nutritional game, “Eat this, Not that” was played to inform and promote healthy eating points to the participating consumers.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. ® was the first Greek-lettered sorority established and incorporated by African-American college women. The sorority was founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University in Washington, D.C. Locally, since 1998, the Phi Beta Omega chapter has served Bucks and Montgomery Counties on behalf of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.®. The commitment has fostered relationships and partnerships with many other organizations and businesses in the communities we serve. Since our chartering we have provided over $100,000 in scholarships; as well as significant services and pro- grams fulfilling our motto of, Service to all Mankind.
