Police launch manhunt for ‘dangerous’ armed robber
COATESVILLE >> Police have launched a manhunt for a man who they say robbed the Metro PCS store in the city at gunpoint.
Gabriel James Lyons, 35, who is on parole for serving part of a 6.5- to 13-year armed robbery sentence, should be considered armed and dangerous, police said.
According to Coatesville Det. Sgt. Brandon Harris, Lyons entered the Metro PCS store located at 260 East Lincoln Highway on Nov. 28 at 10:20 a.m., brandishing a silver handgun and demanded cash from an employee. The employee handed over approximately $200 in cash.
At the time of the robbery, Lyons was wearing blue jeans, boots, and a gray hoodie sweatshirt with the hood up.
Police say he acted alone, and if spotted, should not be approached and is extremely dangerous.
While serving time for another armed robbery in an Indiana County prison 15 years ago, Lyons was convicted of assaulting a corrections officer. State police said Lyons approached corrections officer Bryan Patrick
Kizak at 3:22 p.m. Feb. 8 and punched him several times in the head. Other prison personnel restrained Lyons.
Kizak suffered a 1 ½-inch cut behind his left ear and soft tissue damage to his left jaw. He was treated at the facility’s medical unit and then transferred to Indiana Regional Medical Center’s emergency room.
