BAM MARGERA THROWS PARTY TO KICK OFF SKATE PARK REDESIGN
Skateboarder and MTV reality star Bam Margera knows how to throw a party.
The most famous person in Chester County (or maybe those QVC show hosts are better known) was covered with glitter, or what he called pixie dust, at Castle Bam on Hickory Hill Road.
He was handed a drink and skateboards to sign, at a desk at his home, prior to the official start of the party attended by thousands, at noon Thursday.
The public was invited. The fundraiser was a tease — guests were told to bring screw guns and sledgehammers — but not why.
Margera said during the party that a skateboard park inside his barn would be redesigned by skater Danny Way to make room for “the perfect” bowl.
Skaters joyfully took turns carving up the indoor park in the final hours of its existence.
Margera said he was happily reminiscing.
“This is exciting,” he said. “I haven’t had this many people here for 10 years since Viva La Bam.”
The Jackass star talked about the many skaters who unsuccessfully attempted tricks on his driveway, which had been shaped into a huge bowl.
“Falling is all part of it, trying it all over again for an hour is all part of it,” he said. “When you land it, it’s the greatest feeling ever — to walk away from a trick you’ve been trying so much is like a giant reward.”
Skaters where cheered, with oohs and aahs, when they nailed a trick, and sometimes needled when they fell.
“Give this guy another beer,” regularly shouted one spectator.
Artists worked with spray paint and brushes to paint the driveway bowl.
“Castel Bam” is being renovated to become an Airbnb.
Professional skateboarders Way, Andy Roy and Freddy Gall were scheduled to hit the party.
