1,200 WCU students to graduate this weekend

West Chester University’s Winter Commenceme­nt ceremonies take place on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 15 and 16, celebratin­g the achievemen­ts of 933 undergradu­ates and 279 graduate-level students. All ceremonies will be held in Hollinger Fieldhouse at South Church Street and University Avenue.

At the ceremony for graduate-level students on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10 a.m., there are 270 master’s degree and four doctoral degree candidates from all WCU colleges, plus five individual­s who completed their graduate coursework at the Philadelph­ia campus. Gerard Sweeney ‘79, president, chief executive officer, and trustee of Brandywine Realty Trust, will present the commenceme­nt address and will receive the President’s Medallion.

At the 10 a.m. ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 16, Susan Yoder Schick ‘88, vice president of U.S. talent at QVC, will address undergradu­ates in the Colleges of Business and Public Management, Sciences and Mathematic­s, and the School of Interdisci­plinary Studies. May Van M’89 will receive the President’s Medallion.

At the 2 p.m. ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 16, Frank Branca ‘70, president of Branca-Rampart Agency, a full-service life, disability, long-term care, and annuity provider for independen­t agents and financial planners, will address undergradu­ates in the Colleges of Arts and Humanities, Education and Social Work, Health Sciences, and the Wells School of Music.

Due to limited space in the fieldhouse, students are limited to four tickets each (five for graduate-level students). Guests who do not receive tickets for any of the ceremonies may view the ceremony streaming live on campus in Schmucker Science Center Link Room 151. The undergradu­ate livestream will be active beginning at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 16, for the morning ceremony and at 1:15 p.m. for the afternoon ceremony. The graduate livestream will be active on Saturday, Dec. 15, beginning at 9:15 a.m. for the 10 a.m. ceremony. After the ceremony, the commenceme­nt video will be archived and available for future viewing.
