Kennett boys edge Great Valley on the road

In a Ches-Mont American boys’ basketball contest on Thursday, visiting Kennett edged Great Valley 49-48. Ethan Schmidt scored 15 points and Josh Ploener added 12 for the Blue Demons. Gavin Frankenheimer paced the Patriots with 14 points.
POTTSGROVE 51, UNIONVILLE 48 >> The Indians hosted a non-league contest and were outscored 23-16 in the fourth quarter. Connor Ash scored a team-high 17, but nobody else on the Unionville roster managed more than eight points. SUN VALLEY 67, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 49 >> Leading by seven at the half, the Golden Knights were outscored by 30 points in the second half by the Vanguards in Ches-Mont American action. Iv Pettit (19 points), Taj Asparagus (15) and Jake Nelson (11) led Rustin, but the rest of the squad managed a total of just four points.
The Hornets raced out to a 21-5 halftime lead and cruised to a non-league win. Christian McCartney had 12 points for Oxford to lead all scorers.
WEST CHESTER EAST 50, DOWNINGTOWN
EAST 42 >> The Vikings topped the Cougars in Ches-Mont National action. Tym Richardson and Andrew Carr scored 14 and 11 points, respectively, for the Vikings. Tariq Kalim led all scorers with 25.
The Knights led by 11 after one quarter and never looked back against the Vanguards. Dikaya Daniels had 12 points for Rustin.
PHOENIXVILLE 54, COLLEGIUM CHARTER 9 >> The Phantoms took a commanding 26-6 lead after the first quarter and went on to win it easily. Cheyenne Rivas led Collegium Charter with four points.
COATESVILLE 58, BISHOP
SHANAHAN 40 >> The Red Raiders got 22 points from sophomore Neveyah Chester, and Sarah Huston added 17 points for Coatesville. Sammie McCarter led the Eagles with 12 points.
KENNETT 46, GREAT VALLEY
32>> The Blue Demons improve to 3-1 overall (1-0 in C-M American) with a win over the Patriots. Andrea Prestianne scored 21 and Ellie Matthews 11 for Kennett. Tessa Liberatoscioli had 15 for Great Valley (01, 2-1).
UNIONVILLE 61, INTERBORO
26 >> A dozen different players scored as the Indians clobbered the Bucs. Anna Iococca led the way with 10 points for Unionville.
WEST CHESTER HENDERSON 47, DOWNINGTOWN WEST 32
>> The Warriors led 22-6 after the first quarter and wen on to overwhelm the Whippets in a Ches-Mont National contest. Erin Thompson had a gamehigh 12 points for Henderson. Grace Wenner led West with eight.
