Gun Sense Chester County has a new name

WEST CHESTER >> Gun Sense Chester County is launching its new name and positioning line (slogan line) representing an evolution in strategic direction for the gun violence prevention group.

The group’s mission continues to focus on reducing gun violence.

The name, GunSenseUs, uses a mnemonic device to highlight the concept of “consensus.” This emphasis is similar to the concept of the group’s original slogan, “Common Ground is the Solution.” The uniqueness of the new name is intended to increase audience memorability beyond what the more commonly used words — Gun Sense — could project.

According to Ann Cummings, president, the new name and slogan line (positioning line) — Building Consensus For Gun Sense — will help the public understand how this group’s approach is distinct from other gun violence prevention groups. “While we share the same goal as other groups — to reduce gun violence — there are many people who seek and support balanced solutions drawing on areas of consensus between gun owners and non gun owners alike. That is our focus.”

The group, (GSCC), which is nearly two years old has been using the slogan line “Common Ground Is the Solution.” This slogan line may be used in the future as well.

The new name — GunSenseUs will become fully operational in February 2019. The former name Gun Sense Chester County will go out of use at that time.

GunSenseUs is an all volunteer, non-partisan, not-for-profit 501(C)4 organization advocating for changes in gun laws to reduce gun violence. The group was founded in 2017 as Gun Sense Chester County. The GunSenseUs Education Fund is an all volunteer, nonprofit 501(C)3 organization working to educate residents about gun violence, causes and solutions.
