Westtown basketball teams earn split in PAISAA quarters
The Westtown boys’ basketball squad edged Perkiomen School, 68-67, on a buzzer-beating field goal from University of Connecticut commit Jalen Gaffney, in the quarterfinals of the PAISAA state tournament Saturday. The Moose, the No. 2 seed in the tournament, will face No. 6 seed Hill School in the PAISAA state semifinals Feb. 22 at Montgomery County Community College.
Westtown lost to Abington Friends, 63-48, in the PAISAA girls basketball quarterfinals. Leading scorers for the Moose were Jojo Lacey (14 points, five rebounds, three assists) and Amaya Douglas (11 points, five rebounds). Halle Brown grabed six rebounds, and Ayanna Revnell scored seven points and dished out four assists. Westtown ended its season with a 17-6 record, the best record for the program in the last 20 years.

MEET OF CHAMPIONS » The Coatesville boys’ team had some good performances at the Meet of Champions at Lehigh University. The 4x200 relay of Camari Stocker, Artie Burgess, LeBron Bessick and CJ Brown finished third (1:32.83), and qualified for next week’s Indoor States. Eric Kirk finished second in the 60 dash (7.00) and qualified for Indoor States. Naheem Moore jumped 449.5 in the triple jump, finishing third and qualifying for Indoor States. The 4x400 relay of Artie Burns, CJ Brown, Eric Kirk and Camari Stocker finished seventh (3:30.52) and qualified for Indoor States. The 4x800 relay of Micah Kranzel, Josh Campagna, Jahmir Carter and Mike Kelly ran a season best of 8:24.02.
