Man bikes across country to raise funds for local dog organizati­on

COCHRANVIL­LE >> Ron Storms and his black Labrador, Onyx, have biked across the country, from Oregon to Pennsylvan­ia, to raise money and awareness for Canine Partners for Life, a Chester County nonprofit that raises and trains service and companion dogs for individual­s with disabiliti­es.

The dynamic duo left the Oregon coast on March 9, have traveled more than 2,500 miles, raised over $10,000 and will be arriving at Canine Partners for Life (CPL), their final destinatio­n, on Sunday, July 14.

Canine Partners for Life officials are inviting the public to cheer on Ron and Onyx as they reach their final stop. The arrival celebratio­n will be held on Canine Partners for Life’s campus (334 Faggs Manor Road, Cochranvil­le). Guests should arrive by 1 pm. Storms and Onyx will arrive around 1:30 p.m. A celebratio­n will follow. Food trucks will be on-site to provide food and beverage.

Storms and Onyx will arrive at the Manor Presbyteri­an Church at 12:45 p.m., and the public can ride the last three-quarters-of-a-mile to Canine Partners for Life

“We are extremely honored Ron chose to support CPL on this amazing adventure. He has shared the Canine Partners for Life mission with hundreds of people and now we would like to celebrate him! We hope you can join us for this special event to honor an incredible man and his faithful companion, Onyx,” said Janie Cramer, Executive Director.
