Avondale woman arrested in connection with strangulat­ion attempt

NEW GARDEN >> An Avondale woman was arrested after police said she told a woman she would break every bone in her body, and then went on to attempt to strangle her.

Dawne R. Salazar, age 49, of Avondale was charged with Terroristi­c Threats, Strangulat­ion, Simple Assault, and Harassment, following the incident which occurred May 28 in the 6600 block of Limestone Road in New Garden.

The incident occurred during an altercatio­n, during which Salazar reportedly struck the victim several times and grabbed her throat in such a way that she couldn’t breathe. Salazar allegedly threatened to kill her and break every bone in her body.

Southern Chester County Regional Police said there was a delay in the reporting the incident but police observed evidence of injuries to the victim and there was a witness to the altercatio­n. Charges were filed on July 1 and the case is pending a preliminar­y hearing.

West Chester

Attempted kidnapping

On July 17, at 6 p.m., West Chester Police officers were dispatched to the area of South Penn Street and East Barnard Street for the report of an attempted kidnapping of a juvenile. The juvenile described the man as white, approximat­ely 5 feet 4 inches tall, in his 40s, bald head with black hair on the sides, black beard, and wearing a white Tshirt. The man was last seen driving a gray sedan, possibly a Kia, east on Barnard Street toward Bolmar Street. Police are continuing the investigat­ion.

Open lewdness

On Monday July 8 at 11::07 p.m., the West Chester Police Department responded to a report of a white man wearing a grey sweatshirt, grey pants and back pack who was alleged to of been masturbati­ng

in front of 40 East Market Street. Officers made contact with Sean McCole, 31, of Coatesvill­e. McCole had a strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from his breath and was unsteady on his feet, police said. McCole was found to have an active bench warrant out of Chester County. McCole was transporte­d to the police department, processed and transferre­d to a bench warrant constable. McCole was charged open lewdness and public drunkennes­s.

Trespass

On June 22 at 11: a.m., the West Chester Police Department responded to a report of a possible trespasser at 300 East Evans Street, Sharpless Works Apartments. A subsequent investigat­ion revealed that a Richard D. Luminello, 52, of Diwoningto­wn, had occupied two apartments without lease or permission. Officers located Luminello on

the property and arrested him for Criminal Trespass, Possession of Marijuana, and related charges. WEST GOSHEN

Stolen vehicle recovery

West Goshen police located a vehicle that was entered into NCIC as stolen on July 17 at the Wawa, 706 East Gay Street. The vehicle operator was identified as Nazier Griffin-Holt of Philadelph­ia, after he provided police with false identity. He was arrested and taken into custody. KENNETT SQUARE

DUI

Cesar Garcia-Ramirez, 23, of Kennett Square was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses, after his Ford Explorer was stopped for traveling continuous­ly with high beams engaged. The incident occurred on June 25 in the 300 block of West South Street, Kennett Square. Upon making contact with Garcia-Ramirez the officers observed indicators

suggesting intoxicati­on and field sobriety tests showed impairment. Cesar Garcia-Ramirez was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a .148 percent BAC. Charges of DUI and related offenses were filed.

DUI

Catherine Harris, age 56, of Newark, Delaware was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses, after the 2001 Acura she was driving was stopped for traveling at 63 mph in a posted 25 mph zone. The incident occurred on June 20, at 8:45 p.m., in the 200 block of South Union Street, Kennett Square Borough. Upon making contact with Harris, police observed a strong odor of alcoholic beverage on her breath, blood shot eyes and slurred speech. The officers were unable to perform field sobriety tests, for her own safety, due to the level of intoxicati­on. Harris was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and related offenses.
