Police plan DUI checkpoints this weekend
WEST CHESTER >> The Pennsylvania State Police will be conducting sobriety checkpoints this coming weekend at undisclosed locations in Chester County.
On July 19, at 11 p.m., members of the state police conducted a sobriety checkpoint. During the checkpoint, 183 motorists were contacted, resulting in 14 DUI arrests and four misdemeanor drug arrests. Additionally, 14 summary traffic citations and three warnings were issued.

Criminal mischief
Police are investigating a criminal mischief that occurred June 26 at 1752 Shadyside Road, West Bradford. Someone threw a large rock, shattering the window of a piece of construction equipment. Anyone with information on this incident should call police at 610-486-6280.
Burglary
Guns, coins and jewelry were stolen from a home in West Nantmeal Township July 19, police said. Entry was gained to a home at the 100 block of Isabella Road sometime between 6 a.m. and 11:30 on July 19, police said. The thief or thieves took the safe, contained $50 worth of coin, two loaded, 10-round .22-caliber magazines, 20 silver dollar coins, a bold band, a black onyx ring and a half-box of .22 caliber rounds. West Chester
DUI
On July 20, 2019 at 2:49 a.m., West Chester Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of Church and Virginia Streets. Officers made contact with the operator Rohan Reid, 32, of West Chester. Reid was arrested for DUI and was taken to West Chester Police station for processing and released to the Chester County Constables for an active warrant.
Simple assault
On July 15, 2019 at 2:25 p.m., West Chester Police officers responded to Scenic Drive, West Chester, for a report of an assault. Officers made contact with David Griffin, 69 of West Chester. Griffin was taken into custody for Simple Assault and Harassment. Griffin was processed transported to Chester County Prison to be arraigned. Griffin is awaiting preliminary hearing scheduled for July 26, 2019.
Aggravated assault
On July 20, 2019 at 4 a.m., West Chester Police officers were dispatched to an apartment in the 600 block of South Walnut Street for the report of a subject threatening others with a knife. Officers identified Dean Harley, 21 of Newtown, as the subject who allegedly threatened them with a knife. A verbal argument escalated into a physical altercation. Harley is alleged to have kicked in a door and threaten several people with a knife. Officers located a knife at the scene. Harley was arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault, Possessing Instruments of Crime and related charges.
