Giant customers donate $710,000
Annual in-store effort benefits Children’s Miracle Network hospitals
In the past five years, according to the company, Giant has donated more than $100 million to area nonprofit organizations.
CARLISLE >> Customers of Giant Food Stores contributed more than $710,000 during Giant Food Stores’ annual in-store campaign to raise money for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMN).
The campaign was conducted between June 23 and July 6 in all Giant Food Stores and Martin’s Food Markets. Customers had the option of making a contribution at checkout. The donations were primarily raised $1 at a time, according to a press release. It is an effort Giant has supported for 22 years, according to the company.
“Our customers and associates have continued to generously support the work of CMN year after year in helping to save and improve the lives of children in our local communities,” John Ponnett, senior vice president of retail operations for Giant Food Stores, said in the release. “With every donation, they are helping the CMN Hospital in their local community build new treatment facilities, purchase special equipment needed in the care of young patients and conduct groundbreaking research, helping to make miracles happen for the families who need them most.”
Giant is one of the top 15 fundraisers in the country for Children’s Miracle Network, with donations from customers, employees and vendor partners topping $45 million. The donations support programs and services at Children’s Miracle Network hospitals including: The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, Penn State Children’s Hospital, The Janet Weis Children’s Hospital at Geisinger, Children’s National Medical Center, University of Virginia Children’s Hospital, Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital, Johns Hopkins Children’s Center and WVU Medicine Children’s Hospital.

Giant Food Stores has 180 stores across Pennsylvania — including stores in Berks, Chester, Montgomery and Delaware counties — as well as, Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia.
