Man accused of burglarizi­ng ex-wife’s home; sending threatenin­g texts to her boyfriend

Radnor police charged a Bryn Mawr man after investigat­ors allege he broke into his ex-wife’s home and later began sending threatenin­g text messages to her boyfriend.

Police identified the suspect as Christian Tamburro, 42, of West Lancaster Avenue in Bryn Mawr.

Officers were called to the home on Fairfax Road in Bryn Mawr July 19 at 2:35 a.m. on the report from a woman that her ex-husband had entered her home while she and her boyfriend were asleep.

The complainan­t told police she woke up and found her ex-husband standing in the doorway of her living room. He said nothing and exited the home through the kitchen door.

The woman’s boyfriend then said he began getting text messages from the exhusband that were threatenin­g in nature.

The messages continued while police were at the residence. Along with the text messages, photos were also sent that showed the two sleeping on the couch.

Tamburro was taken into custody at his residence on West Lancaster Avenue in the Lower Merion section of Bryn Mawr.

Police said the phone number from where the text messages had come from was Tamburro’s phone. He was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, loitering and prowling at night, terroristi­c threats and related charges. HARASSMENT >> Radnor police received a report that one woman was harassing another woman while they were at the Chili’s Bar and Grill on West Lancaster Avenue in Wayne July 15.

According to the report, the complainan­t told police she was at the restaurant at 3:30 p.m. when another woman came in for drinks. She believed the woman’s name was Raquel. The woman engaged the complainan­t in conversati­on about the animal rescue business the complainan­t runs.

The woman then became threatenin­g, she told police.

The complainan­t told police she was worried the woman would show up at her workplace. COMPUTER FRAUD >> A resident of Wessex House on Lancaster Avenue in Radnor told police July 17 that for three straight days when she turned on her computer she found it was locked. On the first two days, there was a message giving her a phone number to call.

When she called the number, she was told the computer had a virus, and she had to pay an undisclose­d amount of cash to unlock it. The first time she used a credit card, and the second time, she used a check.

On the third day, the message gave her another name to contact. Again she was told she had to pay money to get rid of the virus.

Although she paid the money at first using a check, she began thinking it was a scam and put a stop payment on the check.

After contacting police, she was told to dispute the credit card charge and to stop the check payment. She was also told to contact her computer manufactur­er for help in removing the virus. When police called the phone numbers the woman was given, they were no longer working. SCAM ATTEMPT >> A resident of Callanan Avenue in Bryn Mawr reported to Radnor police July 17 that she received a call telling her that her son was going to be incarcerat­ed if she failed to pay money.

The woman did not provide any informatio­n to the caller. LINKEDIN INVITATION­S >> The Radnor Township Police Department has issued an alert for residents to be aware of a recent phishing scam involving the social media company LinkedIn. Hackers are threatenin­g LinkedIn users by sending out fake invitation­s which are laced with malware. Police are asking anyone to review any linked articles. THEFT AND FRAUDULENT USE OF CREDIT CARDS >> The Radnor Township Police Department has issued a crime alert for a theft that was reported on July 21. The victim reported credit cards were stolen out of her wallet while she was eating at a restaurant in the 300 block of East Lancaster Avenue. The cards when then used to make several fraudulent charges in the Devon area.
