Free pet adoptions this weekend at Providence Animal Center

-

UPPER PROVIDENCE >> If you’ve been thinking about a pet, this just might be your weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28, Providence Animal Center, AKA PAC, will be offering free adoptions in effort to “UnPAC” the Center.

The lifesaving facility’s goal is to find homes for 75 homeless dogs and cats in two days. The volume of animals at the Media shelter is at a recent all-time high due to an inundation of pets rescued from cruelty and natural disasters like Tropical Storm Barry.

Adoption hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday and 12-5 p.m. on Sunday. Providence Animal Center is located at 555 Sandy Bank Road, in Media.

If you plan on visiting Providence Animal Center’s weekend adoption event, follow these helpful tips:

• Bring a driver’s license or a state-issued ID with current address.

• The owner of the home must consent to the adoption of the animal.

• If you rent, bring a copy of your lease stating that you are allowed to have pets. If the lease doesn’t state anything regarding owning pet, have a letter from your landlord.

• If you own your home, bring a copy of your deed, mortgage payment book or tax bill.

• If you are planning to adopt a dog and presently have a dog(s), all dogs must meet at the Center under the supervision of a PAC associate.

• If you have veterinary records for current or previous pets, please bring them if possible.

If you’re not ready to make the commitment to adopt, PAC is also offering a foster-to-adopt program, which means you can bring a pet home for a temporary basis before making the decision to adopt.
