WEST CHESTER >> It’s never too early to start planning for New Year’s Eve.

Husband and wife Marilyn and Bob Parsons are already hard at work making sure that the New Year’s festivities at the Uptown! Knauer Performing Arts Center go off without a hitch.

Marilyn Parsons is excited to once again dance on the big stage and bring in 2020 with friends and fellow theater lovers at “Putting on the Glitz Again.”

Hor d’oeuvres will be served during cocktail hour, guests will enjoy reserved seats for the First Ladies of Rock and Soul show, dinner will be served and a dance party will herald in the New Year.

“It brings the community together and everybody’s going to have a good time,” Marilyn Parsons said. “It’s not like any other day of the year.”

“It’s a real gem for the community, so many people tell us,” retired physician Bob Parsons said about the theater’s home at the 100-year-old former National Guard Armory building. “West Chester is a destination and this is making it more of a destination.”

Marilyn Parsons said that Uptown! has come a long way in just a few years

since its inception on New Year’s Eve 2016.

“Each thing we do gets

better and better,” Marilyn Parsons said. “We want to keep people aware.”

And, look for Marilyn’s earrings which she won during a raffle at the original event.

The theater is seeking

sponsors for this, its major fundraiser of the year.
