Man admits to possessing child porn

A Cheltenham man has admitted to possessing child pornography and is awaiting his fate from a judge.

Alexey Vladmirovich Uversky, 31, of the 1900 block of Humphrey Merry Way, in the Elkins Park section of Cheltenham, pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to felony charges of possessing child pornography in connection with incidents that occurred between February and May 2018.

Judge Todd D. Eisenberg deferred sentencing so that court officials can complete a background investigation report about Uversky, who remains free on bail pending his sentencing hearing.

Uversky faces a possible maximum sentence of 15-to-30-years in prison on the charges. However, state sentencing guidelines

could allow for a lesser sentence.

Regardless the sentence he receives, Uversky faces a 15-year requirement to report his address to state police in order to comply with Pennsylvania’s Sexual Offender Registration and Notification Act.

An investigation of Uversky began in February 2018 when a detective conducting Internet investigations

to identify those possessing or sharing child pornography identified a computer linked to Uversky that was engaged in such activity, according to the criminal complaint.

Detectives were able to make a direct connection to the computer, according to the criminal complaint filed by Abington Detective Rick Beaghley, who is specially sworn as a county detective to investigate Internet crimes against children.

During the investigation, detectives downloaded

91 video files that depicted children under the age of 18 engaged in sexual acts or poses, according to the criminal complaint.

Armed with a warrant to search Uversky’s residence, detectives seized a desktop computer and other electronic devices on May 31, 2018.

During a subsequent interview by detectives, Uversky admitted to intentionally downloading child pornography files, Beaghley alleged in the arrest affidavit.
