Coatesvill­e romps to win over Red Devils

The Coatesvill­e High School boys’ basketball team improved its record to 10-3 (6-0 in the ChesMont League) after a 71-54 win against Avon Grove Tuesday evening. The Red Raiders, who led 62-33 after three quarters, were led by Jhamir Brickus (18 points), Jaeden Brickus (18 points) and Abdul Stewart (10 points). For Avon Grove, Tyler Newman scored 11 points and Matt Gallagher 10. UNIONVILLE 40, SUN VALLEY 22 >> The Indians, who held the Vanguards scoreless in the fourth quarter, got 15 points (including a trio of treys) from Logan Shanahan. MALVERN PREP 77, SPRINGSIDE CHESTNUT HILL 59 >> Deuce Turner scored 30 points for the Friars, and Rahdir Hicks chipped in with 11 points for the winners. WESTTOWN SCHOOL 87, ABINGTON FRIENDS 54 >> The Moose got 24 points from TJ Berger (including five treys), and 16 points each from Wade Chiddick (including four treys) and Noah Collier.

BISHOP SHANAHAN 58, WEST CHESTERHEN­DERSON53>> The Eagles were led by a well-balanced attack, getting 11 points from Zane Domsohn, 10 from Robbie Fillipone and nine from Kevin McLaughlin. For the Warriors, Sage Harkins scored 21 points, Tyler Grimm 14 and John Briglia 12. WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 64, KENNETT 55 >> The Blue Demons got 16 points from Buzz Hertz. West Chester Rustin’s statistics were not available.

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 56, KENNETT 41 >> The Golden Knights were led by 20 points from Laine McGurk, and teammate Gracy Shivers chipped in with 12 points. For Kennett, Ellie Matthews scored 12 points and Gina Lusvardi 10.

COLLEGIUM CHARTER 55, PHIL-MONT CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 20 >> Cheyenne Rivas led all scorers with 29 points, teammate Dejah Morris chipped in with nine points and Libby Kiley grabbed six rebounds for the winners. UNIONVILLE 45, SUN VALLEY 40 >> The visiting Indians got 11 points from Anna Iacocca and 10 points from Emma Dempsey.

Boys Swimming

GERMANTOWN ACADEMY 97, MALVERN PREP 86 >> The Friars (2-4-1, 1-2) were led by Nick Harris, who continues to dominate the diving event, where he is 16-0 as a varsity athlete. Harris broke his own pool record by 25 points, scoring 365.93. Malvern Prep’s 200 medley relay of Jack Cassidy, Ryan Durkan, Brady Tierney and Alex Hamill won in a time of 1;40.24. Jack Cassidy won the 100 back (54.00) and Ryan Durkan won the 100 breast in a time of 59.11.

WEST CHESTER EAST 101, WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 79 >> Viking winners included AJ Avagliano (200 free, 100 free), JP Perucki (50 free, 100 fly) and Matt Sivo (100 back, 200 IM). For Rustin, Adam Khatib won the 500 free and Alec Pirone won diving.

Girls Swimming

WEST CHESTER RUSTIN 104, WEST CHESTER EAST 74 >> Winners for the Golden Knights were Sophia Piccone (200 free, 100 fly), Lily Turco (200 IM, 500 free), Erin Koczur (50 free) and Michelle An (100 free). Sarah McHugh won the diving event for West Chester East.

WESTTOWN 45, GERMANTOWN FRIENDS 24 >> The Moose (1-1) got pins from Charlie Herlocher (152 pounds) and Wilson Cano (160), a 6-2 win by Griffin Hankin (132) and five victories by forfeit.

Indoor Track

LINCOLN JUMPER NAMED ATHLETE OF WEEK >> Lincoln University women’s track and field jumper Krystahl Gordon has been named the Central Intercolle­giate Athletics Associatio­n (CIAA) Women’s Indoor Track and Field Food Lion Field Athlete of the Week for her performanc­e in last week’s Spartan Invitation­al in Staten Island, N.Y. This week’s honor marks the second time this season that Gordon has earned Field Athlete of the Week. Gordon placed third in the long jump with a personal-best indoor mark of 5.37 meters (17’ 7½”) at the Spartan Invitation­al while also competing in 200 meters and running a leg on the Lions’ 4x400 meter relay team. Her long jump mark currently ranks second in the CIAA this indoor season.
