Shanahan’s Greenhut hits 1,000

Malvern Prep edges Episcopal to keep Inter-Ac lead

Kathryn Greenhut scored her 1,000th career point on a free throw in the second quarter of Bishop Shanahan’s 55-37 win against Avon Grove Tuesday. The Eagles (10-5 overall, 5-3 Ches-Mont) were led by Greenhut (15 points, 13-for-16 from the free throw line), Jacey Petruno (13 points) and Gianna DiMarco (10 points). For Avon Grove, Kaelin Salley scored 13 points and Kylie Norris tallied 11. VILLA MARIA ACADEMY 39, MOUNT ST. JOSEPH 37 >> Myla Warley went 2-for-2 from the free throw line with 6.1 seconds remaining to seal the win for the Hurricanes (9-5). Myla Warley and Morgan

Warley each scored 10 points for Villa Maria, and Maddy Ryan chipped in with eight points. The Hurricanes went 11-for14 from the free throw line. COATESVILL­E 40, DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 39 >> The host Red Raiders, who were trailing 33-29 at the end of the third quarter, were led by Danae Ellzy (14 points) and Neveyah Chester (13 points). Shayla Johnson of Downingtow­n West led all scorers with 17 points. GREAT VALLEY 58, SUN VALLEY 17 >> The Patriots had nine players reach the scoring column, and were led by Tessa Liberatosc­ioli (15 points, six rebounds), Ashley Sullivan (10 points, four rebounds), Emily DuPont (11 points) and Gia Sioutis (six rebounds).

WESTTOWN SCHOOL 44, GERMANTOWN FRIENDS 28 >> The Moose, who had a 17-3 third-quarter run, were led by Jojo Lacey (10 points, six steals) and Amaya Douglas (13 points, eight rebounds). COATESVILL­E 82, DOWNINGTOW­N WEST 70 >> The Red Raiders (12-4 overall, 8-0 Ches-Mont) were tied 38-38 at halftime, then outscored the Whippets 24-9 in the third quarter. UNIONVILLE 83, COATESVILL­E 70 >> For the Indians, first-place finishers included Jack Lawrence (200 free), Bryan Dym (100 free) and Thomas Smiddy (100 back). For the Red Raiders (1-5), individual first-place finishers were Jacob Vannoy (200 IM and 500 free), Ethan Moore (50 free and 100 fly) and Joey Wayne (100 breast). EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 101, MALVERN PREP 85 >> The Friars’ Nick Harris highlighte­d the day by eclipsing both the EA pool record and the Malvern Prep school record in the 1m diving event. Harris’ score of 404.93 is only the second time in Inter-Ac history that a league diver has broken the 400 score mark. Episcopal Academy, with its win over the Friars (2-5-1 overall, 1-3 Inter-Ac), clinched the Inter-Ac title.

Girls’ Swimming

UNIONVILLE 103, COATESVILL­E 70 >> For the Indians, individual first-place finishers were Emma Shields (200 free), Logan Wilson (200 IM and 500 free), Hunter Smith (diving), Madelyn Lowe (100 fly) and Molly Carson (100 free and 100 back). For the Red Raiders (3-3), firstplace individual finishers were Kayla Bock (50 free) and Melanie Bohm (100 breast).

ACADEMY OF THE NEW CHURCH 37, WESTTOWN SCHOOL 35 >> The Moose (3-2 overall, 3-1 Friends’ Schools League) got pins from Nicolo Secul (120 pounds), Ethan Kisiel (126), Wilson Cano (160), Aidan Gunton (170) and Mike Tayloe (195). Griffin Hankin (132 pounds) earned a technical fall for Westtown.
