Malvern Prep’s Harris dominates Inter-Ac Diving Championships
Malvern Prep’s Nick Harris dominated the Inter-Ac League Diving Championships on Monday, running away with the title with a final score of 371.25. The second place finisher was Episcopal Academy’s Will Hopkins, more than 120 points behind at 248.65.
Malvern’s Dan Faunce finished fourth at 215.55.
Girls Basketball
BISHOP SHANAHAN 48, MERION MERCY 40 >> Gianna DiMarco led the way with 24 points, on an unusually light scoring night from teammate Kathryn Greenhut, as Bishop Shanahan picked up a nonleague win. Jacey Petruno had nine points, Greenhut added eight and Shannon Donahue scored five for Shanahan (12-5). COATESVILLE 49, CHICHESTER 31 >> Dasani Peoples led all scorers with 18 points as the host Red Raiders beat Chichester.
Boys Basketball
OXFORD 57, INTERBORO 25 >> Luke Campbell led the Hornets with 15 points and Christian McCartney added 11 points for Oxford in the nonleague win. STRATH HAVEN 50, WC HENDERSON 47 >> Sage Harkins had 21 points to lead all scorers, but the Warriors dropped a tough nonleague decision against the Panthers. John Briglia added seven and Tyler Grimm six for Henderson in the loss.
Women’s Lacrosse
WEST CHESTER RANKED NO. 2 NATIONALLY >> Coming off of a 20-3 season with six returning starters and nine players who saw action in the National Championship game against Adelphi, West Chester picked up the No. 2 ranking in the IWLCA Division II coaches poll. Despite losing 11-5 to Adelphi in that game, the Golden Rams had a successful season that included winning the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championship 13-9 over East Stroudsburg.
Tatum Altman and Bishop Shanahan grad Tara Morrissey will enter their senior seasons having led the Golden Rams in assists in 2019 with 39 and 36, respectively. Altman was named a 2019 third-team AllAmerican. Defender Molly Reinhart also preparing for her senior season, joined Altman on the third-team AllAmerica squad.
The Golden Rams are scheduled to play four of the Top 25 teams during the upcoming season: No. 5 Queens, No. 10 Mercy, No. 11 East Stroudsburg and No. 18 Pace. West Chester’s season begins with a home game on March 6 against Georgian Court.
Reigning National Champion Adelphi claimed the No. 1 spot in the IWLCA Division II Coaches preseason poll, collecting 23 first place votes.
