Henderson wrestlers top D-West in pinfest

The West Chester Henderson wrestling team defeated Downingtow­n West, 52-27, Wednesday, in a meet in which 12 pins were recorded. The Warriors got eight of the falls from Max Jackman (120 pounds), Billy Wilson (126), Killian Delaney (132), SamMc Mo na gle(138),Ro bert English (152), K oh B au man (160), Mason Baldwin (170) and Cash Artis (195). The Whippets earned four pins - from Dom Findora (113), Max Hale (182), Chase Mielnik (220) and Matt Micale (hwt). SUN VALLEY, OXFORD 34 >> The Hornets got a boost in the middle of their lineup, with pins by Cooper Johnson (132 pounds) and Landon Meredith (152), and finished the meet with a fall by 220-pounder Kelvin Figueroa.

FAITH CHRISTIAN ACADEMY 56, COATESVILL­E 15 >> The Red Raiders got a pin from Evan Seagreaves (126), and a 3-1 victory from 120-pounder Nathan Lucier. CONESTOGA 43, EPISCOPAL ACADEMY 24 >> In this Tuesday meet, the Pioneers got pins from Liam Walker (132 pounds) and Matt Hamilton (195). Other leading wresters for Conestoga were Aidan Foster (major decision at 138), Jake Allred (technical fall at 160) and Ezra Toll (major decision at 170).

Boys’ Basketball

ST. JOE’S PREP 55, DEVON PREP 50 >> The Tide, who led at halftime, 19-14, were led by Nick Crowe (21 points, 4-for-4 from the free throw line), Scion Dorsey (12 points, two treys), Chris Patton (10 points, two treys) and Eamon Walsh (seven points).

Boys Swimming

MALVERN MAKES WAVES AT INTER-AC MEET >> Malvern Prep had some fine performanc­es at the Inter-Ac Boys Swimming and Diving Championsh­ips. Alex Hamill and Ryan Durkan took third place in the 100 back and 100 breast, respective­ly. Malvern Prep’s 200 medley relay team of Hamill, Durkan, Jack Cassidy and Kevin Cary won the bronze medal as did the 200 free relay team of Cary, Brady Tierney, Tommy Moul and Ben Kutufaris.

Men’s Basketball

MILLERSVIL­LE 97, WEST CHESTER 71 >> Freshman forward Matt Dade scored a season-high 17 points in 24 minutes off the bench in the defeat that dropped West Chester to 14-6 overall and 8-6 in PSAC play. The loss dropped the Golden Rams into the thick of the PSAC East standings, as they’re tied in second place with the Marauders (11-9 overall). Senior guard Malik Jackson led West Chester with 21 points. Jackson has scored 1,646 points in his collegiate career, which moves him ahead of 1959 WCU graduate Terry German for sixth place on West Chester’s all-time scoring list.

Women’s Basketball

MILLERSVIL­LE 65, WEST CHESTER 44 >> The Golden Rams (7-12 overall, 5-9 PSAC) were led by freshman Leah Johnson (11 points) and senior Gabrielle Troisi (11 rebounds, six offensive boards). West Chester remains in sixth place in the PSAC East with eight games remaining on its regular season schedule - six teams from each division earn a spot in the PSAC playoffs.

Women’s Softball

GOLDEN RAMS RANKED NO. 1 >> West Chester University softball is ranked first in the Pennsylvan­ia State Athletic Conference East Division preseason poll that was released on Wednesday. The Golden Rams, led by six-time PSAC Coach of the Year Diane Lokey, have won the PSAC East regular season title for six consecutiv­e seasons. They are also the only team in the PSAC to be nationally ranked (eighth) in the National Fastpitch Coaches Associatio­n preseason poll that was released Jan. 22.
