Chamber urges businesses, residents to do a kind deed

WEST CHESTER >> The Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is calling for the West Chester business community and its members to take part in Leap of Kindness Day 2020 on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, by doing good in the local community.

Leap of Kindness Day was conceived in 2016 by the Saratoga County Chamber of Commerce in Saratoga Springs, NY as a call to pay it forward within their community through well-thought-out acts of kindness. The idea is that participating individuals, businesses, and organizations will use the extra day in February on leap years to do something good within their communities.

This year, the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce is joining over 50 chambers of commerce across more than 30 states in promoting the second annual Leap of Kindness Day.

“We wanted to find a way to encourage our members to do something good in the West Chester community because our citizens are what make West Chester such a great place to live and work,” said Mark Yoder, president and CEO of the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce. “We are happy to unite with a great number of other chambers across the country for Leap of Kindness Day 2020.”

Examples of acts of kindness include: making charitable donations to local nonprofits; volunteering at the local animal shelter; sending cards or care packages to overseas military; delivering meals to local first responders; bringing flowers to the local nursing home; and donating food to the local food bank.
