Man arrested following highspeed pursuit in Coatesvill­e

COATESVILL­E » A Coatesvill­e man who had warrants for his arrest led police on a high-speed pursuit on city streets.

On Monday Feb. 24 at approximat­ely 4 a.m., officers were on patrol in the area of the 800 block of Merchant Street. Officers observed a black Hyundai Elantra coupe fail to stop at two posted stop signs as it drove east on Merchant Street.

Officers located the vehicle now on North Eleventh Avenue driving south toward East Lincoln Highway where the vehicle was observed running a red light as it continued to drive south.

Both officers following the vehicle initiated lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle failed to yield to emergency vehicles and led officers on a high-speed pursuit for several city blocks.

The vehicle came to a stop on the unit block of Star Alley where the driver, identified as David Holmes III, 36, of Coatesvill­e, exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

After a foot pursuit with police officers, Holmes was taken into custody on Pearl Alley. Holmes was confirmed to have a felony warrant out of New Jersey, two parole violations, and a criminal warrant out of Coatesvill­e City.

Holmes was transporte­d to the station where he was held. The vehicle was also recovered and towed to the station.

Drug charges

On Friday Feb. 28 at 4 a.m., officers observed a silver Kia Forte with a motorist failing to use a turn signal making a right turn from Walnut Street onto Woodland Avenue and again failed to use a turn signal turning left from Woodland Avenue onto Olive Street. The vehicle was also confirmed to have an expired registrati­on from 2019. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle in the area of Olive Street and

South Fifth Avenue. The operator was identified as Rashon Thompson, 31, of Tennessee. Thompson was removed from the vehicle and during a consent patdown a digital scale was located on him which did have what appeared to be marijuana residue on it. A further search of the motor vehicle and his person produced a small container containing suspected marijuana, 13 bags of suspected crack cocaine, and $711 cash. Thompson was taken into custody and transporte­d to the station where he was held for arraignmen­t.

Warrant

On Friday Feb. 28, at approximat­ely 2 a.m., officers observed a black Mitsubishi sedan traveling north on First Avenue, Route 82. The vehicle was observed to have registrati­on lights out of operation. A traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle and the passenger of the vehicle was identified as Daqwane Horne, 25, of Darby. After a check of Horne’s informatio­n it was confirmed that he had a warrant for his arrest out of Sadsbury Township Police Department. Horne was taken into custody and transporte­d to the station where he was held for Sadsbury Township Police Department.

Drug charges

On Feb. 26, police were patrolling the area of South Fifth Avenue when they viewed a black Audi parked in the roadway with no four-way flashers on. Upon approachin­g the vehicle, the engine was not running and no one was inside. Contact was then made with Kevin Crutchfiel­d who was in possession of the vehicle. A vehicle search was conducted and a vacuum sealed baggie was located inside the vehicle containing individual­ly packaged marijuana. Crutchfiel­d was also found in possession of eight Oxycodone Hydrochlor­ide pills. Crutchfiel­d was taken into custody and transporte­d back to the station for processing. Crutchfiel­d

was arraigned and bail was set at $25,000. Crutchfiel­d was transporte­d to Chester County Prison.

Assault

Police have arrested and charged Brent Baker with assault and related offenses after he reportedly assaulted the grandparen­ts of his child and fled the borough. Police later caught up with the defendant, who was arraigned and remanded to the Chester County Prison after not posting bail.

Assault

Jordan Alex Jennings, 20, was charged after police were called to the family residence for an assault. Jennings was visibly intoxicate­d and had reportedly assaulted his mother. The defendant was found to be in possession of methamphet­amine at the time of his arrest. The defendant was remanded to the Chester County Prison.
