Coatesvill­e man arrested in connection with road rage incident

A Coatesvill­e man was arrested following an investigat­ion into a road rage incident in West Goshen Township.

It began in the parking lot of the West Goshen Shopping Center on Sept. 25, 2019. After leaving the parking lot, a person reported being followed by a white Ford Crown Victoria through multiple jurisdicti­ons. During this time, an object was thrown at the victim’s vehicle, breaking the rear window, police said.

During an investigat­ion, the operator of the car was found to be Charles Gorman, 28, of Coatesvill­e. He was arrested and charged with propulsion of missiles onto a vehicle and roadway, criminal mischief and harassment.

BURGLARY » A West Chester man was arrested on burglary and criminal trespass charges after police responded to a burglary in progress at Tee It Up Golf on Hagerty Boulevard on March 6. Daniel Steven Freas, 33, was found inside and taken into custody.

BURGLARY » Christophe­r C. Shank, 34, of Kennett Square was arrested and charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Theft, Possession of marijuana, and other offenses, following an investigat­ion into a suspicious vehicle. The incident occurred on March 9, 2020 at 11:55 a.m., in the 6700 block of Limestone Road, in New Garden Township. Police observed Shank leaving private property with a load of furniture and other items. Upon making contact with Shank, police observed drug parapherna­lia and detected the odor of marijuana in the vehicle. Contact was made with the property manager who confirmed that Shank did not have permission to be on the property or permission to take the items. Shank was taken into custody and transporte­d to Central Booking, where he was processed and held for arraignmen­t. He was committed to the Chester County Prison, after failing to post the 10 percent of $30,000 bail.

DUI » Ulises Damian-Garcia, 20, of West Grove was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses, following a three-vehicle accident. The incident occurred on March 8, 2020 at 6:18 p.m., in the 8800 block of Gap Newport Pike, in New Garden Township. Upon making contact with Damian-Garcia, who was the operator of the striking vehicle, police observed indicators suggesting intoxicati­on. Field Sobriety tests could not be conducted. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test his breath, resulting in a B.A.C. of .18 percent.

DRUG CHARGES » Jack Mahard, 23, of Coatesvill­e was arrested and charged with violations of the Controlled Substance, Drug, Device, and Cosmetic Act (Act 64), after he was found to be in possession of suspected methamphet­amine and related drug parapherna­lia, following a traffic stop.The incident occurred on March 5, 2020 at 9:16 p.m. in the 8800 block of Gap Newport Pike, in New Garden Township. Mahard was taken into custody and was held on an outstandin­g warrant, before being turned over to Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies.

Sergio Morales, 22, of West Grove was arrested and charged with DUI and related traffic offenses, as well as False ID to Law Enforcemen­t. The incident occurred on March 5, 2020 at 9:15 a.m., on South Guernsey Road at Willow Street, in West Grove Borough. Police received a report of an erratic driver and a traffic stop was initiated. Upon making contact with Morales, police observed indicators suggesting intoxicati­on. Field Sobriety Tests were attempted but could not be completed. Morales was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a BAC of .242 percent. Morales was remanded to the Chester County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail.

IGNITION INTERLOCK VIOLATION » Juan Flores-Martinez, 34, of West Grove was arrested and charged with illegally operating a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock system, as well as related traffic offenses, following a traffic stop for a registrati­on violation. The incident occurred on March 3, 2020 at 4:51 p.m., in the 100 block of Pine Street, in New Garden Township. Upon making contact with FloresMart­inez, a records check revealed that he was operating a vehicle that was not equipped with an ignition interlock system as required. Police also observed indicators of alcohol use and a subsequent breath test revealed that his BAC exceeded the limit allowed for drivers required to use the ignition interlock system. He was processed and released pending issuance of a summons.

DUI » Maximino Hernandez-Sotelo, 44, of Avondale was arrested and charged with DUI and two traffic offenses, following a traffic stop for an expired registrati­on. The incident occurred on March 1 at 11:16 a.m., on Newark Road at Gap Newport Pike, in New Garden Township. Upon making contact with HernandezS­otelo, police observed indicators suggesting intoxicati­on and field sobriety tests showed impairment. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of his breath, resulting in a B.A.C. of .106 percent. He was processed and later released pending issuance of a summons.

Westtown-East Goshen

FRAUDULENT CHECKS » The Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department are actively investigat­ing the passing of a fraudulent $100 bill at the CVS Pharmacy in Thornbury Township, Chester County. The suspect is described as a black male in his 20s with short dreadlocks wearing a black jacket with a green hoodie underneath, black ADIDAS sweatpants, and black sneakers. The suspect arrived in a white KIA sedan. It is believed the same suspect attempted to pass a fraudulent bill at a CVS in West Goshen Township 30 minutes later. Anyone able to identify the above suspect is asked to contact Ofc. David Hale at 610-692-9600.

THEFT » On Feb. 2, 2020 Univest Bank reported a theft to the West Chester Police Department. Univest Bank reported on Jan. 31, 2020 a person made a fraudulent ATM Bank deposit and withdrawal in the amount of $195. The West Chester Police Department conducted an investigat­ion. As a result of the investigat­ion Danny Potts was identified

as the suspect. On March 9, 2020 Danny Potts, W/M/35 YOA. of Honey Brook, was arrested for Theft By Unlawful Taking and Receiving Stolen Property. Potts

In June, 2019, the West Chester Police Department initiated a investigat­ion into the sale of cocaine by Hassan Jones, 29, of West Chester. As a result of this investigat­ion, Jones was arrested on Jan. 12, 2020. Jones was arraigned and remanded to prison after being unable to post $20,000 cash bail. The West Chester Police Department was assisted in this investigat­ion by the West Goshen Police Department and the WEGO Police Department.

On March 11 2020 at 10:11 a.m.

officers responded to a business on West Gay Street for a report of an unwanted subject trespassin­g on the property. As a result of the investigat­ion Howard Sheehan, 82, of Cochranvil­le, was arrested for defiant trespass. Sheehan was released on summons for a later court date.
