Man arrested after trying to run down teen
A man was arrested for criminal attempted homicide after police said he attempted to run over a 16-year-old boy.
POCOPSON TOWNSHIP » A 21-year-old man was arrested for criminal attempted homicide after police said he attempted to run over a 16-year-old boy in the parking lot of Pocopson Park Wednesday.
Kevin Isiah Kirk was arrested and charged with criminal attempted homicide, aggravated assault, aggravated assault by vehicle, accidents involving death or injury and other related offenses.
According to state police at Avondale, the incident began May 13 at 11:11 a.m. after police were dispatched to Pocopson Park for the report of a hit and run involving a teen.
Upon arrival, troopers spoke to several witnesses. Witnesses told police they observed a 16-year-old boy struggling inside a black sedan with a young man who was operating the vehicle. Through investigation, it was determined that after the struggle, the teen was struck multiple times by the vehicle.
The teen was transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Delaware County. Following a police investigation, the registration from the vehicle was obtained, and Kirk was identified as the operator of the vehicle.
Police put out an allpoints bulletin, and shortly after a traffic stop was initiated on the vehicle just outside of Coatesville,
Kirk was detained and witnesses were able to positively identify him as the driver of the vehicle. The victim later also positively identified Kirk.
Kirk was remanded to Chester County Prison until a preliminary hearing. Anyone with information on this crime is urged to call 610-368-2022.
