What happens when a nonprofit organization’s most important annual fundraiser is closed because of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic?

That is the situation faced by the nation’s approximately 1.5 million nonprofits (statistic provided by the National Center for Charitable Statistics). The coronavirus pandemic has altered the lives of every American, and many businesses – including nonprofits – are facing dire economic repercussions as a result.

According to Anthony C. Weagley, President and CEO of Malvern Bancorp, Inc. and Malvern Bank, National

Association, “Many nonprofits are finding new, innovative ways to bring their social, cultural, and artistic benefits to the public. And now, more than ever, individuals and corporations need to recognize the benefits these nonprofits provide and support them.”

One local nonprofit that has been impacted by the pandemic is Historic Yellow Springs, a nearly 300-yearold village located in Chester

County. Every year since 1973, Yellow Springs has held a spring Art Show and Sale. In response to the coronavirus, this year’s 47th annual show is being previewed with an online show

at www.YellowSprings.org, with Malvern Bank as a major sponsor. Those who want to go directly to the Art Show Gallery and view more than 150 pieces of art can click on this link: https://bit.ly/2z4MK8k

“This year’s show features paintings, drawings, graphics, and three-dimensional works in a variety of styles and media by dozens of artists,” said Karen Walter, Executive Director of Historic Yellow Springs. “After 46 consecutive years of presenting this Art Show to tens of thousands of visitors, we knew we couldn’t just take a one-year hiatus. So, the online option was ideal – for now. We hope to present our 47th Annual Art Show on site later this year.”

Artists from across the country are participating in the online show, which has been online since April 24. Additional galleries will be added to the website on a regular basis as new works from the artists become available.

All proceeds from the show benefit arts, education, historic preservation and environmental protection of the historic village of Yellow Springs.

“Historic Yellow Springs is one of our region’s important cultural and artistic resources,” said Weagley, “and Malvern Bank is committed to supporting the communities we serve. That commitment is especially vital during these unprecedented and uncertain times. I invite everyone to visit the Historic Yellow Springs website to enjoy this unique show.”
