Man arrested after GPS helps track stolen Amazon van in West Chester

WEST CHESTER » A man stole an Amazon truck in West Chester but was arrested a short time later.

According to West Chester police, the incident occurred May 8 at 1:03 p.m. on the 200 block of East Gay Street.

Police said the vehicle’s GPS was tracked and the vehicle was stopped by Caln Township Police in the 3500 block of Lincoln Highway. Vernon McGoldrick, 60, from Royersford was taken into custody. McGoldrick was processed and transporte­d to Chester County Prison for central booking.

TRESPASS » On April 30, 2020, officers responded to the Charles Melton Community Center for a report of a man sleeping outside the building. Police had been there for a similar incident a few weeks prior. Upon arrival the man provided officers with a fake name and date of birth. He was later identified as Mohamed Koroma, 20 of Coatesvill­e. He was released on summons.

BURGLARY » The West Whiteland Township Criminal Investigat­ion Division is investigat­ing a reported burglary in the Whiteland Business Park. Sometime between May 15, 2020 and May 18, 2020, someone unlawfully entered a business. Anyone with informatio­n about the burglary is urged to contact the West Whiteland Township Police Department at (610) 692-5100.

DOMESTIC DISPUTE » Police have charged Dijuan Sanders, 40, with multiple assault charges and terroristi­c threats after a domestic dispute on 140 North Church Street in Parkesburg on May 26. Sanders, police said, reportedly struck and bit the adult female victim several times, causing injury. The victim was reportedly holding their infant child during one attack. Sanders, currently on Federal parole, threatened to kill the victim if she called, or told, the police of the attack. He was taken into custody and remanded to the Chester County bail after not posting $25,000 cash bail.

Westtown-East Goshen

ASSAULT » On May 20, 2020 at 915 p.m., the WesttownEa­st Goshen Police Department was dispatched to the 1100 block of Avonlea Circle for a disturbanc­e. Upon completion of the investigat­ion Dimitri Gunasekera was arrested and charged with Simple Assault and Harassment. Gunasekera was arraigned at Chester County Prison and bail was set at 10 percent of $5,000. Gunasekera posted bail and was released pending a preliminar­y hearing.

ENDANGERIN­G CHILDREN »

Brooke M. Hendrickso­n, 21, of West Grove, was charged with Endangerin­g the Welfare of Children and Corruption of Minors, following a report made to police on April 17, 2020. The mother of a 15-year-old juvenile contacted police about Hendrickso­n providing her child with marijuana, at her residence in West Grove Borough. Following an investigat­ion, charged were filed on May 22, 2020.

DRUG CHARGES » Kathleen M. Hampton, 38 of Avondale, was charged with DUI, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Parapherna­lia and summary traffic offenses, following a traffic stop for driving on a suspended license. The incident occurred on May 18, 2020 at 11:30 a.m., in the 300 block of North Guernsey Road, in West Grove Borough. Upon making contact with Hampton, police observed indicators suggesting impairment, and detected the odor of marijuana. Field Sobriety Tests showed impairment and Hampton was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI. Hampton refused to submit to a chemical test of her blood. She was processed and later released pending issuance of a summons.

ILLEGAL FIREARMS » William F. Short III, 21 of Chester, was charged with Carrying a Firearm without a License, Theft by Unlawful Taking or Dispositio­n, and Criminal Conspiracy. The arrest follows an incident that occurred on May 14, 2020, at 5 p.m in the 1300 block of Baltimore Pike in New Garden Township. The victim called police after he had three pairs of sneakers stolen from him. Short ran from the scene but was taken into custody, a short time later, when he showed up at the station after calling about picking up his firearm, located in the vehicle during the stop. A records check revealed Short was not licensed to carry a firearm in the state of Pennsylvan­ia. Short was transporte­d to Chester County Prison, where he was processed and held for arraignmen­t. Short was committed after failing to post bail.
