Crebilly meeting to be held in garage
WESTTOWN » At least for the time being, the township has changed the way it conducts meetings.
The township plans to hold the July 8 planning commission meeting at the Westtown Public Works Garage due to the global pandemic.
An earlier Zoom meeting was canceled.
This will likely be the final time that the planning commission examines Toll Brothers’ plan to build 319 homes on the 322-acre Crebilly Farm site prior to supervisors revisiting the matter.
The July 8 agenda lists plan revisions, traffic information, formal recommendations to supervisors and a vote by planners on a motion for the Toll Brothers proposed subdivision.
Toll filed new plans last year, prior a loss in court, to restart the plans. Many residents have argued that the farm was the site of troop movement during the Sept. 11, 1777 Battle of Brandywine and should be preserved.
In 2019, Commonwealth Court affirmed Common Pleas Judge Mark Tunnell’s decision, while stating that the builder failed to meet the requirements for a conditional use application to build 319 homes. Toll was denied, affirming the earlier lower court’s decision.
The township manager did not return two phone calls, Monday, from a reporter seeking an interview.
A statement posted online at the township website notes that the “garage doors will be left open to promote airflow.” Portable bathrooms will be provided and there was no notice given concerning whether hot running water and soap would be available.
In the past, more than 100 residents have showed up at board of supervisor meetings concerning the controversial project.
Those seeking to attend the July 8 meeting were
told through the posting that if they feel sick to not show up, masks must be worn during the meeting, and temperatures will be taken, with anyone registering a temperature above 100.4 degrees not permitted to enter.
Also, hand sanitizer will
be provided, there will be a sign-in sheet at the entrance and attendees are asked to socially distance from anyone who is not a member of the same household.
Parking will be available along the shoulder on the westbound side of East Pleasant Grove Road and along Kolbe Lane. The meeting is scheduled to run from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., on July 8, at 10 E. Pleasant Grove Road.
