Jays stay perfect with 2 more victories

Wes Erdman and winning pitcher Jimmy Haines combined on a three-hit shutout to help the Jays stay unbeaten in the West Chester Adult Baseball League with a 3-0 victory over the Barnstorme­rs on Sunday. Andrew Ciliberto doubled in the Jays’ (14-0) first run and Kevin Berry drove in the second run with an RBI groundout. Phil Matronga had two doubles for the Barnstorme­rs. RED MEN 4, ENGLUND’S 1 » The Red Men (8-7) captured their fourth win in a row Sunday. Joe Hurley picked up the win, going five innings and allowing just one run while striking out eight hitters. Kyle Laing pitched the final two innings to get the save. They combined to limit Englund’s (10-5) to just three hits. Ryan Howe went 3-for-3 for the Red Men, scoring two runs. Ryan Giandonato added a two run single in the bottom of the 6th inning to pad the one run lead for the Red Men. Pat McDonough took the loss for Englund’s while Nate Guers had the lone RBI on a base hit in the top of the 4th.

Saturday’s Action

JAYS 2, BANDITS 1 » The Jays moved to 13-0 with a hard fought 2-1 victory in nine innings. Jake Reese and winning pitcher Zac Burke combined to limit the Bandits to just two singles and three baserunner­s in nine innings of work. Steven Posner doubled in the go-ahead run in top of ninth and had two hits on the day. JJ Freeman also added two hits and drove in the Jays’ other run. Dean Sioutis singled in the tying run with two outs in bottom of eighth for the Bandits.
