Police seek public’s help to identify driver in hit-and-run
WEST NOTTINGHAM » Police are asking for the public’s help to identify the driver of a hit-andrun crime in which a 23-year-old man was seriously hurt.
The hit-and-run occurred at the intersection of Route 272 and Cemetery Road near Union Square Road in West Nottingham Township on Aug. 6 at 1:41 a.m.
Troopers from the Avondale barracks arrived within minutes after receiving a call and found a man, later identified to be a pedestrian, lying in the roadway.
Troopers immediately began providing care and police soon learned the man had very serious injuries.
EMS arrived on scene shortly after and immediately transported the victim, who has not yet been identified, to Christiana Hospital. The scene was further processed, and police say the vic
tim was struck by a vehicle. That vehicle then left the area after striking the man.
The Patrol Units and the Criminal Investigations Unit are working together to continue the investigation, police said, and have obtained several surveillance videos that were located in the area. The footage is actively being reviewed and depicts several vehicles in that area prior to or just after the crash occurred.
Police are asking the public’s assistance in providing any information they may have regarding this incident. They are also asking residents in this area with Ring doorbells, Nests, or other home and property surveillance devices to review footage between the hours of 1:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m.on Aug. 6, 2020.
