Eligible voters must vote in this election

-

The year 2020 has been and will be a year to remember, or absolutely not. Add to all the craziness so far, and maybe most of all, the upcoming general election on November 3rd. We are still two months away from the election and it seems we have been part of this circus since 2016.

The faster we approach Election Day, it seems the majority of our friends, family, neighbors and coworkers are all at the point of mental frustration and exhaustion. Everywhere we turn, tune into, watch, download or read, we are bombarded with how important this election will be for the future of our country.

Just last week, I had one of those political conversations that you are supposed to stay away from with a friend. We are from opposite sides of the isle and have different viewpoints on the direction of our country. The one thing we agreed on is the absolute madness of this current election. In the end, we both want the best for America and we will exercise our right to vote.

The right to vote is one that some American’s really do not think about. It is fitting just last week, it was the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment. I can hardly imagine an election where my wife, daughter, mom, sisters, nieces, aunts and grandma’s could not vote or have the right to vote. Now that is madness! We as American’s owe a huge amount of appreciation and gratitude to all those who fought for, demanded and finally obtained the right to vote for all eligible citizens who are 18 years of age.

This election, with the opportunity for absentee voting, going to the voting booth (230 voting precincts in Chester County alone) and now with mailin voting,it is easier to vote than ever before. With all the choices on how to cast your ballotand assuming our next President may appoint multiple Justices to the US Supreme Court, this election will be very important to our country.

There are reports going around that believe it may come down to Chester County’s vote tally as to who will receive the 20 Electoral College votes for all of Pennsylvania. That could also provide the number needed to actually choose the President nationwide.

My question is this, if you are eligible to vote in this election and choose not to, why?

Just remember, once the election is complete and you did not vote, then do not complain.
