Police nab suspected drug dealer in New Garden
NEW GARDEN » Police nabbed a suspected drug dealer after they received a tip that a man was about to make a drug transaction from his vehicle in New Garden Township
Arrested was Jose DeJesus De Santos-Barba, age 32 of Avondale. He was charged with Possession with Intent to Deliver Controlled Substance, Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Dealing in Proceeds of Unlawful Activities, False ID to Law Enforcement and summary traffic offenses.
The first incident occurred on Friday July 31, 2020 at 12:51 a.m., in the 900 block of Newark Road, in New Garden Township. Police were given information of a subject going to the location to sell drugs. The described vehicle was located, unoccupied, and secured for a search warrant. A large amount of cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine was located in and seized from the vehicle.
De Santos-Barba was later identified as the driver and was found to have an outstanding warrant. On Friday Aug. 7, 2020 at 1:27 p.m., police received more information that De Santos-Barba was possibly involved in another transaction in the 1000 block of West Baltimore Pike. De SantosBarba was later located in the 900 block of Penn Green Road and taken into custody.
He was transported to Chester County Prison for arraignment and committed after failing to post bail.

West Chester ASSAULT
On Aug. 15 at 2 a.m., an assault took place in the 50 block of West Gay Street in West Chester. West Chester Police are investigating the incident. The victim was chased down by the person of interest, a white female, along with other females and several males in their group. The person of interest aggressively confronted the victim and assaulted the victim. The 21-year-old female victim received injury to her facial area. West Chester Police are looking to identify the individuals in the photos attached to this case. Anyone with information is asked to contact West Chester Police Detective Unit at 610-436-1337.
DOOR DAMAGED
On Aug. 15 at ap4:51 a.m., officers responded to 304 EastMarshall Street (Metropolitan Apartments) for the report of a female banging on the door and attempting to gain entry using an unknown object. The woman fled prior to police arrival and was not located. The victim did not see the actor and could not provide a description The door and door jamb were damaged in the incident. Anyone with information on the identity of the actor is asked to contact West Chester Police.
ASSAULT
On Aug. 24, at 2:48 p.m., West Chester Police responded to 302 East Marshall Street for an assault that had just occurred. After investigation, Vincent Cassano, 38 , from West Chester, was taken into custody for Simple Assault and Harassment.
DRUG CHARGES
In December of 2019, the West Chester police initiated an investigation into the sale of cocaine by Thomas Plumb-Hinde, 26, from West Chester. As a result of this investigation, a warrant was issued for Plumb-Hinde. Plumb-Hinde was taken into custody without incident on Aug. 22. Plumb-Hinde was arraigned and released on $25,000 unsecured bail.
STOLEN VESPA
On Aug. 23 at 11 p.m., West Chester Borough Police responded to the 200 block of North New Street for the report of a stolen Vespa. During an investigation, it was determined the Vespa was stolen from the 300 block of Patton Alley. The theft occurred between 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 23. The Vespa is described as all black, with a brown seat and silver rims. This Vespa has a few dents on the rear as well. Anyone who has any information regarding this stolen Vespa is encouraged to call West Chester Borough Police at 610-696-2700.
West Whiteland COUNTERFEIT BILLS
A man allegedly passed a counterfeit $100 bill at the Giant store on Aug. 14. Anyone with information is asked to contact Det. Scott Pezick at 610-363-0200 ext. 1017 or spezick@westwhiteland.org. Also, officers are attempting to identify a person who allegedly passed several counterfeit bills at a store in the Whiteland Towne Center on the afternoon of Monday, August 24, 2020. Witnesses described the person as wearing an American flag medical mask.
THEFT OF WALLET
Officers are investigating the theft of a wallet from an
unlocked vehicle parked at the Saints Philip and James Church on the morning of Aug 21.
Southern Chester County Regional DRUG CHARGES
Robert D. Showmaker, 19 of Havertown, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and summary traffic offenses, following a traffic stop for a registration violation. The incident occurred on Monday Aug. 17, at 10:43 p.m., in the unit block of Pennsylvania Avenue, in Avondale Borough. Upon making contact with Showmaker, suspected marijuana was observed on the rear floor of the vehicle. A search of the vehicle located over 207 grams of marijuana, two containers containing
THC oil, a grinder, glass pipes with marijuana residue, a scale, and a whiskey “shooter”. Showmaker was taken into custody and processed. He was later released pending issuance of a summons.
DRUG CHARGES
Edwin Y. Rivera-Millet, age 19 of Wilmington Del., was arrested and charged with DUI, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Burglary, Criminal Trespass, Tampering with or Fabricating Physical Evidence, Public Drunkenness, Disorderly Conduct and summary traffic offenses, following a traffic stop for erratic driving. The incident occurred on Saturday Aug. 15, at 10:29 a.m., in the area of Gap Newport Pike and Penn Green Road, in New Garden Township. A burning marijuana cigar was
observed in the ashtray. A search of the vehicle located more suspected marijuana in a book bag, found on the back seat. Rivera-Millet was asked to perform Standard Field Sobriety Tests which confirmed impairment. He was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI, Possession of Marijuana and Paraphernalia and transported for a chemical test of his blood. He was later released pending issuance of a summons. At 1:26 p.m., police responded to the 1000 block of Newark Road for the report of Rivera-Millet trespassing. He had jumped the fence to the closed business to gain entry into the vehicle he had been driving. An arrest warrant was issued and Rivera-Millet was taken into custody on Aug. 19. He was transported to Chester County Prison for arraignment and was released on bail.
