SCCCC holds networking luncheon
“When someone comes tomy church, my job is to love them and take care of them— whether I like themor not.” — David Tate fromDiamond State Financial Group
CHADDS FORD » The Southern Chester Chamber of Commerce held its first networking luncheon event since February on Thursday.
The event, held at the Gables at Chadds Ford in Delaware County, just north of Chesco, featured an opportunity for attendees to deliver brief elevatorpitches on their businesses.
Diamond State Financial Group sponsored the “Network at Noon” gathering.
The speaker featured Diamond State’s David Tate, a senior associate and wealth manager with the company.
Prior to entering the financial advisement marketplace, Tate was a pastor at two congregations in southeastern Pennsylvania for more than 25 years.
Indoor seating at the event was limited to 25 people, excluding chamber and venue staff.
“When someone comes to my church, my job is to love them and take care of them — whether I like them or not,” Tate said during his presentation.
“If you’re the head of a family- owned business, and Uncle Fred is in the business, and he’s terrible at what he does, you can’t fire him. You’ve got to love him, because he’s part of the family, and he’s gonna be there. And he’s gonna be there at Thanksgiving.”
Founded in 1929, the chamber is now home to more than 500 members from commercial businesses to nonprofit organizations.
Prior to the 2020 pandemic, the chamber hosted more than 70 events and programs each year.
“If some of things I say is not ‘ Anthony Fauciesque’ for your finances, then my firm wants to know,” Tate said.
He said, “We all need solutions for complex business challenges.”
Tate added, “Are your key people happy, or do you risk their departure?”
