Unionville, WC East win golf matches

Unionville’s boys golf team, lately the class of the Ches- Mont League, cruised in its Ches- Mont League opener, posting runaway wins over West Chester Rustin, Oxford and Sun Valley on Monday at Radley Run Country Club.

Unionville ( 3- 0) tallied a team score of 192, with Rustin ( 2- 1) finishing second ( 214), Oxford ( 1- 2) third ( 215) and Sun Valley ( 0- 3) fourth ( 273).

Four players tied for low round of the day on the par 36 course, with Rustin’s Eric Miller joining the Unionville trio of Win Thomas, Danny Donnelly and Stephen Starnes with 2- over- par rounds of 38.

Roy Anderson and Ross Charlton finished the Unionville scoring with rounds of 39. Rustin’s Ryan Dariano also fired a 39, while Oxford was led by Trevor Dukes- Vincent’s round of 41 and Brendan Humprey’s 42. Sun Valley was led by a 53 from John Hoey.

All four teams will play Tuesday in the Ches- Mont League Championships at Applecross Country Club.

WESTCHESTEREASTWINSQUAD- MATCH » Victoria Kim, the 2019 Daily Local News Girls Golfer of the Year, led all players with a 2- over- par round of 37 to lead West Chester East to wins over Downingtown West, Bishop Shanahan and Avon Grove at Inniscrone Golf Course on Monday.

The Vikings’ Jack Sehon shot 39 to help East ( 4- 0) post a total score of 159, with the Whippets ( 4- 1) finishing second with a 162. Shanahan ( 1- 2) opened its season with a score of 38 and Avon Grove ( 0- 3) finished fourth. The low individual round of the day was shot by Downingtown West freshman Nick Gross, with an even par 35. Ben Saggers shot 38 to lead Shanahan, and Tyler Sikorski and Spenser Woodward posted rounds of 45 to lead Avon Grove.
