With Dallas Goedert sidelined by an ankle injury, Eagles tight end Zach Ertz will likely get a break from the trade rumors swirling around him after his blowupwith generalmanager Howie Roseman.

Goedert is out indefinitely according to head coachDoug Pederson, who also will be without starting cornerback AvonteMaddox ( ankle) for an undetermined time. Goedert exited after playing just six snaps in the 23- 23 draw Sunday with the Bengals. Maddoxwas

hurt in the third quarter.

Ertz caught seven passes for 70 yards and leads the Eagles with 15 receptions for 130 yards and one touchdown. Goedert is third on the squad with 13 grabs for 138 yards and one score.

Pederson sounded most concerned about Goedert, saying “I just don’t have a timetable yet but he is going tomiss some timehere with us.”

Ertz, GregWard, who has 14 receptions and one TD and DeSean Jackson ( hamstring), who played just 28 snaps Sunday, are themost experienced receivers left in the arsenal for slumping quarterback Carson Wentz.

Pederson likely will go to the hurry- up offense to simplify the offense for Wentz and a group of young receivers headed by JJ Arcega- Whiteside, limited to 18 snaps due an ailing hamstring Sunday, Deontay Burnett and rookie John Hightower.

“The thing we look at moving forward is we’re going to have to find creative and unique ways to use all our players on offense,” Pederson said. “The tight ends, the runners. Obviously with Carson. We’ve done this before. We did it at the end of the season last year. We won the four straight games to get us into the postseason and it appears like we’re going to have to do that again.”

Veteran wide receiver Alshon Jeffery, who was limited at practice last week, is ready for a more arduous week of work.

“He came out of last week good,” Pederson said. “We’re going to ramp him up a little bit more this week. Give him a little bit more and see where he is at the end of the week.”

The Eagles ( 0- 2- 1) are winless after three games for the first time since Pederson quarterbacked them to an 0- 3 start in 1999. Their next three opponents – the 49ers, Steelers and Ravens – are a combined 7- 1 prior to Baltimore’s Monday night game versus Kansas City.

The Birdswill need every snap they can get from Ertz to move the football.

Unhappy the Eagles lowballed him in contract extension talks, Ertz took to a Zoom call to air his doubts about having a future in Philly. That occurred the week of the opener.

Later in the week Roseman and Ertzhad a “heated” exchangewitnessed by several players on the practice field, according to the NFL Network. Since then Ertz was rumored to be on the way to Atlanta for Julio Jones, among other speculation.

The trade deadline is Nov. 3.
