Local artist honored by Chester County DAR
WEST CHESTER » Local artist Anna Bellinger has been honored by the Chester County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution with the Women in Arts Award, for her mastery of the watercolor medium, her work in mixed media and her innovative dry brush, highly opaque watercolor technique.
Bellinger is a signature member of the Delaware Watercolor Societ ywhere she received a Best In Show, and has been acknowledged in numerous other juried art shows. She received Best in Show at the Pen Women National Biannual, The Founder’s Award at Philadelphia Water Color Society, and Best in Show in PWCS’ Members’ Show. She is also a signature member of PWCS and the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society, and was recently accepted into the American Water Color Society Show in New York City.
Karen Delaney, retired Executive Director of the of the West Chester Art Association said “Anna’s compositions are delightfully enchanting. Each well designed composition seems to tell a story.” And Petrina Gardner from the Howard Pyle Studio commented that Anna’s work is frequently, “humorous and from a unique perspective.”
Bellinger’s publications include “Outside In,” with poetry by Carol Hixon, and a children’s book about weathervanes and counting entitled “Sky High,” to be published in November.
Recognizing women in arts is one way that DAR works to preserve American heritage in the fields of art and sculpture, crafts, fiber arts, literature and drama, and music.
