Warrant issued forman who broke into marijuana dispensary
WEST GOSHEN » After a lengthy investigation. West Goshen police have identified one of the 30 people who broke into a local marijuana dispensary earlier this year and ransacked it, breaking numerous windows.
Police have issued an arrested for Jauwaun Smith, who is believed to be living in the Wilmington, Del., area.
On May 31, just before midnight, the West Goshen Township Police Department responded to the Beyond Hello Marijuana dispensary for a burglar alarm. Officers found numerous exterior windows broken and the business ransacked. It was determined that about 30 people, all wearing masks, arrived together and gained entry. They removed merchandise and fled the area.
Smith is being charged with burglary, criminal trespass, criminal mischief and theft, police said.

West Goshen
Arrested in shooting On Sept. 16, West Goshen Township Police Department assisted the New Castle County Delaware Police Department and the U. S. Marshals with locating Luther Forehand Jr., who was wanted on assault charges related to a shooting that occurred in Delaware. New Castle County PD learned that Forehand was living in the Golf Club Apartments, in West Goshen Township. Officers found Forehand outside an apartment and effected an arrest. During the arrest, a black semi- automatic pistol was found on Forehand’s person. The firearm’s serial number was obliterated. Additionally, Forehand is a convicted felon, which prohibits him from possessing a firearm. Forehand was arraigned by a judge and failed to post bail. Forehand is being held at the Chester County Prison. Drug charges Joshus Hilker, 28, of West Chester was arrested for drug possession, misbranding and drug paraphernalia in connection with an incident on Sept. 27 at the Wawa at 1195 Pottstown Pike. Police were dispatched to the store for a man who seemed disoriented. When officers arrived, they found Hilker sitting in his vehicle and detected signs of drug use. They conducted a search of the vehicle and found a small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia.

Cruelty to animals Azon Twyman, 22 of Kennett Square, was arrested Oct. 1 for simple assault, harassment and cruelty to animals, after an altercation, during which he allegedly pushed a female victim and attempted to suffocate the family dog by holding a pillow over it. Twyman was had an active bench warrant out of Chester County. He was taken into custody and taken to Chester County Prison.
West Chester
Strangulation On Oct. 3 at 8 p. m., Bryan Love, 35, of West Chester was taken into custody by the East Lampeter Township Police Department in Lancaster County for an active warrant out of West Chester Police Department for aggravated assault, strangulation and other related charges. The charges stem from a domestic assault May 25 that occurred in the 400 block of Hannum Avenue. Love was taken to Chester County Prison pending a preliminary arraignment. Love was unable to post bail and remains in custody at Chester County Prison awaiting his preliminary hearing scheduled for Oct. 16. Burglary On Oct. 1, West Chester police responded to the 400 block of Hannum Avenue for a report of a burglary discovered. The victim returned home from work and found that a bedroom door had been damaged as if someone kicked it. A witness saw a thin white male, wearing a red shirt and a large bandage or cast on his arm, leaving the residence at about 5: 30 p. m. This case remains under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact West Chester Police at 610- 696- 2700. Trump sign removed On Sept. 29 at 7: 44 p. m., two juveniles riding bikes removed a Trump 2020 banner from the front porch of the residence in the 200 block West Barnard Street. They rode eastbound from the residence on West Barnard Street with the banner. Anyone with information regarding the incident is requested to contact the West Chester Police at 610696- 2700.

Endangering children Enrique Mercado- Castillo, 35, of Avondale, was
taken into custody and charged with simple assault, endangering welfare of children, recklessly endangering another person, harassment and disorderly conduct, after a domestic disturbance. The incident occurred Sept. 23, 2020 at 10: 01 p. m., in the 8800 block of Gap Newport Pike, New Garden Township. The juvenile victim had a visible injury to the face, stating it was caused by Mercado- Castillo’s actions, as a witness also stated. Mercado- Castillo was taken into custody and taken to Chester County Prison for processing and arraignment. He was committed after failing to post bail. Drug charges Fernando Aguilar- Gaspar, 47, of Avondale, was arrested and charged with DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and related traffic offenses, to include driving under suspension, DUI related, after a traffic stop for erratic driving. The incident occurred Sept. 21 at 9: 08 p. m., in the area of Gap Newport Pike and Newark Road, New Garden Township.
Upon making contact with Aguilar- Gaspar, police saw indicators suggest ing impairment . Drug paraphernalia was also found on the passenger side floor. No field sobriety tests were administered.
Aguilar- Gaspar was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and submitted to a chemical test of his blood. He was later taken to Chester County Prison for processing and arraignment. He was committed after failing to post bail.
