Man charged with burglary in Kennett Square

KENNETT SQUARE » Police have arrested a Delaware man in connection with a burglary in Kennett Square.

Steven Johnson, 51, from New Castle, Del. was arrested and charged with Burglary, Criminal Trespass and other related offenses after Officers were dispatched to a report of a burglary on Jan. 21, 2021, at 9:37 a.m. in the 200 Block of South Garfield Street, Kennett Square Borough. It was reported that a white male, later identified as Steven Johnson, was in the garage of a residence and seen taking items out of the garage, placing them into his vehicle and driving away.

West Goshen

FATAL ACCIDENT » On Jan. 22 at 6:33 a.m., West Goshen Police received a report of a four-vehicle crash that occurred in the northbound lanes of Route 202, just south of South Matlack Street. An investigat­ion indicated that a 2013 GMC 2500 operated by a 50-year-old man struck the rear of a 2018 Internatio­nal box truck that was stopped for traffic. The driver of the GMC was pronounced dead at the scene. The investigat­ion is ongoing and being conducted by the Traffic Safety Division.

Coatesvill­e

WARRANT ARREST » On Jan. 13 around 9 p.m., Coatesvill­e police officers conducted a traffic stop in the area of South Sixth Avenue and Olive Street for a motor vehicle violation. Contact was made with the driver, Joseph Newkirk who was found to have an active full extraditio­n warrant from Lancaster County. Newkirk was placed under arrest without incident and transporte­d to the police station for constable pickup. CHURCH BREAK-IN » On Jan. 20 at 1:49 a.m., Coatesvill­e Police were dispatched to St. Cecilia’s Church, 99 North Sixth Avenue, for a report of a subject breaking windows at the church. Upon arrival, police discovered signs of forced entry into the church. Officers made contact with a man later identified as David Flores-Rivera, 30, homeless, inside of the church. Rivera was taken into custody for trespassin­g and related offenses and was transporte­d to CPD pending arraignmen­t.

ARREST WARRANTS » On Jan. 21, 2021 at 1:30 p.m, the Oxford Borough Police arrested Christophe­r J. Yomer, 58, of Oxford for an active Fugitive From Justice warrant from the state of Maryland. The Oxford Police Department and Chester County Detectives has an active Felony Arrest Warrant for Wilber Vasquez, 25, of Oxford for 16 charges related to distributi­on of narcotics. The Oxford Police Department has an active Felony Arrest Warrant for Jubenal Renteria, 26, of West Grove for narcotics traffickin­g offenses. The Oxford Police Department has an active Felony Arrest Warrant for Ruth Ann Horne, 81, of Oxford, for Retail Theft and Receiving Stolen Property. The Oxford Police Department has issued a Fugitive Warrant for Raymundo Guzman, 38, who has been charged with Aggravated Indecent Assault- victim less that 13 years old and 5 additional charges. Guzman had a last known address in Hockessin, Del. THREATS » The Oxford Borough Police Department charged 33-year-old, Victor Contreras Ramirez of Oxford for Terroristi­c Threats. The police responded to a disturbanc­e along the 500 block Market Street, Oxford Borough. Officers located Contreras Ramirez and spoke to the victim. Contreras Ramirez posted bail and is awaiting a formal arraignmen­t.

THEFT » On Jan. 8, 2021 at approximat­ely 2:09 p.m., an officer was dispatched for a theft report that occurred in the 300 block of West State Street, Kennett Square Borough. The reporting party was a Contract Manager for Rover Transporta­tion and stated

a client, identified as Joseph Carter, had stolen fare money from the fare money pouch on the bus. It was stated that when the driver exited the vehicle to assist another passenger Carter

exited his seat and removed the money from the front of the bus then returned back to his seat. Video footage of this incident was provided to the Police and the above statements were confirmed. Charges were filed. TOMBSTONE PROBE » On Dec. 7, 2020 a report was made regarding Gregory Stefan Jr. contacting the victim

to sell a tombstone for a deceased family member. The transactio­n was paid in full to Gregory Stefan Jr. in March of 2019 and the victim has yet to receive the product. After further investigat­ion, charges of Deceptive or Fraudulent Business Practices and Theft by Deception were filed against Gregory Stefan Jr. in District

Court. On Jan. 21, 2021 an arrest warrant was issued for Gregory Stefan Jr.

North Coventry

DRUG CHARGES »Officers from the North Coventry Township Police Department responded to the parking lot of Kenilworth Park for the report of a suspicious vehicle. It was reported that

the occupants of the vehicle were possibly involved in drug activity. Upon arrival, officers made contact with the occupants and through the course of their investigat­ion found that the passenger of the vehicle, David Thomas Leffler 39 years old from Ephrata, was in possession of a clear crystal substance, suspected to be crystal methamphet­amine as well as numerous items of drug parapherna­lia. Leffler was taken into custody on those charges and processed and released without incident. Leffler was charged with 1 count of possession of a controlled substance and 3 counts of possession of drug parapherna­lia which were filed with District Court.
