Howard William Doty

Howard W. Doty, 86 of Downingtown, died of COVID-19 at AdventCare Hospice in Palm Coast, Florida on February 1, 2021. He was born January 22, 1935 in Terre Haute, IN, the son of the late Lawrence H. and Mabel F. (Ball) Doty.

Howard was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Carole, in September of 2020. He is survived by his five children: daughter Joni Letch (Harry) Palm Coast, FL; son David Doty (CJ) Warrington, PA; son William Doty (Amy) Loxahatchee, FL; daughter Lynn Bosse (Kevin) Palm Coast, FL, daughter Deanna Schroder (Curt) Downingtown, PA. He is also survived by six grandchildren: Daniel Vaughn, Deanna Merendino, Ryan Doty, Andrew Merendino, Mark Schroder and Kristen Schroder; two great-grandchildren: Colton Vaughn and Bennett Vaughn as well as his sisters Carole Sue Steele Greenwood, IN and Linda Doty Poynter Williams (Wayne) Woodstock, GA. He was preceded in death by his brother Harold Doty (Phyllis) Fountaintown, IN.

Howard was a devout member of St. Maximillian Kolbe Catholic Church for 35 years. He designed transportation systems for Ryder, Rollins, and UPS over the many years of his career. His kind heart and generous spirit will live forever in our memories.

A private family graveside service will be held at Birmingham Lafayette Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Penn Medicine Hospice Friends Fund.
